Rise and fall

"It was a mistake..."

"Forget about it..."

Those words keep repeating in Leon's mind. Last night was the most perfect night of his life. When he woke up this morning he was so happy. He can't remember when was the last time that he woke up this happy. He was planning to ask Hilal to marry him. To start a family together. She might think this is a little fast but he was quite sure that he found what he was missing from his life in her. And he didn't want to waste another minute being separate from her.

Then he noticed the empty space beside him. At first, he thought she was in the washroom but he didn't find her there. He found her near the main door and in what seems like an attempt to leave. Maybe she has duties in the hospital. That's why she was leaving in such a hurry. Leon tried to assure himself. But then she opened her mouth and everything he dreamed of began to shatter.

He stood still in the hallway looking at the closed door long after she left. Trying to contemplate what happened. Something went wrong but he was not sure what. He was pretty sure that last night was amazing for both of them. She wanted him as much as he wanted her. Heck, he had the scratch marks in his back to prove to that how much she wanted him. But why she panicked this morning? What freaked her out? Leon trying to think but nothing was making sense to him anymore.

"Captain.....Sir."

The soldier's voice brought Leon back from his scattered thoughts. He was distracted the whole day in his office thanks to his little nurse. But no matter how much he thought he couldn't find a good enough reason for why she ran away from him.

"Yes corporal, what is it?"

"Captain we have found out more information about the other Eskor spy."

The soldier handed Leon a file.

"Good work corporal. I'll look at it. You are dismissed."

The soldier saluted Leon and left the room. Leon looked down at the file at his hand. He should deal with it right away. But his mind was too restless to concentrate on work. He put the file down for studying later.

Maybe she was scared that he was not serious about them. That's why she ran away. Leon thought to himself.

He has to find her. He has to convince her that he is very serious about them. Making up his mind Leon stood up and left the headquarter with determination. He will make her give them a chance one way or other.

Leon was walking through the corridors of the hospital. He was searching for Hilal for quite some times now but with no luck.

"Captain Leon. You are very frequent here these days," Nurse Ayse said to Leon with a smile.

"Hello, Nurse Ayse. How are you doing?"

"I am doing fine. Thank you for asking Captain but I'm sure you are not here for asking my wellbeings," the elderly nurse said with a smile. Then she continued, "I'm sorry to say the reason you are here for is also not here. Hilal didn't come to the hospital today. She had the morning shift and she didn't show up. She never did that before. I'm covering for her right now. I owe that girl a lot."

"Oh, I see. Thank you Nurse Ayse, for telling me that."

Leon left the hospital with new worries. She was not at the hospital when she was supposed to be there. What happened to her? He decided to check on her house.
