Isabelle's POV
"Hah!" Isabelle shot up from her place. She was confused and covered in ashes. Her skin was burned on some parts and she was in a lot of pain. But that didn't faze her, what fazed her, was the fact that she was burned pretty badly, and probably inhaled a shit load of smoke and sulfur. Why wasn't she dead? She looked around her and what she saw made her want to scream. Flames erupted from around her with heights of more than 10 feet. She screamed. She should be dead, was she dead? That was it, she was dead! Why did that soothe her? No, if she were dead she would have been in hell because of the flames. She decided to do the ultimate test,
She pinched herself.
When she felt the tingle that a pinch would give her, she screamed again. "What the living hell!" She was so distraught she didn't feel the hands carrying her out of the flames. "Isabelle! It's me, Hazel, stop screaming!" But it was to much. "I should be dead! I should be dead! Why am I not dead?" Hazel slapped the dazed girl. "Isabelle! Relax. I actually was hoping you would tell me why you were still breathing after the flames burned the house." Isabelle dragged her fingers through her short brown hair and sighed. "I think, I think Leo may know why." Hazel sighed. "He may not want to see you right now." Isabelle shook her head and then remembered. She was on Stark's team. She quickly retracted her hand from Hazel's and scooted back. "How did you find me?" Hazel cleared her throat and told.
"You were sent on a mission to retrieve Xoe and Bucky. You didn't come back so Nat sent me to find you." She stated. More confusion. "You're on Cap's side. Why is Nat working with you?" Hazel shrugged. "I never told anyone who's side I'm on. But Nat wants a report on what you saw before the fire. And then Stark wants you in New York for an opt." Isabelle nodded and Hazel helped her up. "What about you?" Hazel sighed. "Cap wants me in Germany. Good luck, Is." Isabelle nodded and headed in the opposite direction. But before she could make it across the lawn, Hazel called out.
"Oh, and don't do anything stupid, like, almost die in a fire!"
Jason's POV
"Isabelle, you're back. Nice trip?" Jason asked. Isabelle scowled at him. "Not so much. Hazel told me you needed a report." Natasha nodded. "Well, before the incident, I saw Bucky, with Xoe." Jason jumped back in surprise. "Xoe? Our Xoe?" Isabelle nodded. "Sadly, yes. Anyway, I thought at first that they were just gathering supplies or something, but then I ah, saw something else..." Natasha looked at her with a stern face. "What did you see, Isabelle?" She gulped and continued. "I uh, I saw Xoe holding a child. Her, child." Jason and Natasha's faces went pale. "Isabelle, are you sure?" Jason asked. Isabelle nodded. "Her name is Sasha, and by the looks of it, Bucky and her may be more than just partners in crime." Natasha stumbled and Jason jumped behind her to help her sit down. She thanked him and sunk down into the seat. She then put her hands in head in her hands and cried.
This was a surprise to the demi-gods. The Black Widow was crying. "Natasha, are you okay?" Jason asked. The spy just cried more. Isabelle was about to speak when Tony Stark walked in. "Hey Isabelle, let's get to New York before..." He stopped when he saw Natasha crying and Isabelle covered in ash. "What the.." Isabelle interrupted. "Let me shower and change into something clean. Jason, when Nat is ready to talk, tell her I'll finish the report later." Jason nodded and Isabelle ran off to get changed.
Leo's POV
Cap had a plan. He waited inside the door to an apartment room. Leo was stationed a few feet away at the stairs on his phone sitting and pretending to talk to his mother in Spanish. It was just him and Cap. The others hadn't arrived yet. They were waiting for Bucky Barnes to show up.
"What makes you think he'll be here?" Leo asked through his com. "I have sources." Cap soon decided to walk in. Shortly after, Leo caught a glimpse of Barnes walking up the stairs. When he passed him, he proceeded to warn Cap, but it was to late. German police were outside ready to attack and kill the Winter Soldier. "Cap..." But he stopped dead in his sentence when he saw her.
"Leo?" He looked up and met her eyes. "Xoe?" She frowned and cursed, she then realized something and ran up the stairs. She looked inside to see no one was there, but the window was open. She cursed again and began to go down the stairs. She glared at Leo and ran faster. Leo got up to follow her. "Leo, look out for..." "Xoe. Yeah. I'm tailing her now." Leo let go of the com and went into full sprint. Xoe turned a corner and got into a car. Leo swore and hopped into a car of his own that a owner was not very happy with giving up. He raced after her down the street at full speed.
He looked to his side to see another chase happening. Cap was chasing Barnes and he was being tailed by another man in a black cat suit? Weird. "Leo, Sam is behind you, but I need you to get Xoe." Cap said through the com. Leo nodded. "Got it." Xoe sped down a turn and Leo had to slow down to avoid being hit. The black cat man hit Bucky's tire with a claw and it popped. Bucky broke into full sprint. That's when Xoe got out the car. Leo smiled and Falcon hopped down from the sky. "We got you now..." He didn't finish, he didn't finish because Xoe got out of the car with a kid holding her hand. Xoe's other hand was in the air. "What the..." "I surrender." She said, a tear spilling down her eye. "I just don't want her hurt." The child had Xoe's straight brown hair and her facial features, but the scary part, was that the child had blue eyes. And so did the Winter Solider.
"Who is that?" Sam asked. Leo was to star struck to answer. Ahead of them, Rhodes, or War Machine, had landed along with about 50 German police officers. "Congratulations, Cap, you're a criminal."
They ended up in a police car. "So, introductions?" Sam said sarcastically. Leo sighed. "I mean, we can start with me. I'm Sam, that's Steve, what about you two?" Xoe rolled her eyes and they landed on Bucky's, who was looking right at her. And poor Leo was sitting in between them. "So what's this here?" He gestured toward Xoe and Bucky, who sighed and looked at the floor. "So no one is gonna talk, what about the kid, huh, Xoe?" Xoe glared at him so hard that it may have hurt. "Oh, soft spot." Sam laughed. Bucky spoke up. "I suggest you shut up." Steve spoke this time. "Maybe if we did have introductions, it would help." Xoe took a deep breath and sighed. "I'm Xoe." Sam clapped. "Great, who's the kid?" He asked. Xoe grunted but before she could speak, Bucky shook his head. That stopped her. "Uh oh, what have we here?" Sam asked. The black cat suit man had hitched a ride with another car, so it was just Steve, Sam, Xoe and Bucky.
"Someone tell us what's going on." Steve said. Xoe laughed. "When I see her again, we'll talk. I don't even know where she is. And sadly, I blame Barnes." He looked up at Xoe. "My fault?" "Yes, you're fault!" "How?" Xoe laughed again. "You had to become a terrorist." "You know good and well that I didn't do that bombing, Xoe." "But no one would have accused you for it if you hadn't ran!" Xoe shook her head and Bucky looked the other direction. "The girls my daughter." Before anyone could say anything else, Leo spoke up. "Their daughter." He said, pointing at Bucky and Xoe. He could feel the surprise on Steve and Sam's faces. But he ignored it and simply closed his eyes and went to sleep.
