Chapter Thirty Two

"Ah Blake, there you are" Tye said walking into our house

I turned around putting a book down that I was reading "oh hi Tye" I said getting up

"Please have a seat. I wont be here long"

I nodded sitting back on the small couch. He walked over to the window and looked out. He was quite, he seemed he was thinking.

"Is everything alright?" I asked

He nodded "I want to ask you something very important"

"Sure"

He walked over and sat beside me "I see something in you. Something my people need, what the world needs"

"I'm confused"

He chuckled "I want you to be my second"

"Second?" I asked confused

"Yes, when I die, you will become the leader of The Great Wall"

I got up and walked infront of him "this is ridiculous. We dont know each other and you trust me to take over" I said confused

He nodded "that is exactly what I am saying" he said getting up "you are a strong fighter, I see it in you"

He held my shoulders "I know you will not kill me, but I do know if you need to betray your family, you will"

I was shocked to hear that. I started at him, not knowing what to say. He isnt lieing, if I needed to, i would do anything to survive.

"What do you go by?" He asked

I snapped out of my thought "what?"

"What is your motio?"

"I-I"

He snapped his fingers "mine is life has an I in it, not an us" he said slowly

I nodded my head slowly "that word can teach people many things. It thought me that life is something to live for, that I need to do something for all that lives" he babbled

"Now girl, what is yours?" He asked smiling

Quietly I said "kill or be killed"

"Yes!" He yelled "that is perfect, i am glade we are on the same page"

I looked over Tyes shoulder to see Laura and Maddie walking in. Maddie slightly pushed Laura be hind him "Tye, I didnt except you to be here"

Tye chuckled "I came to see how you were all holding up. It has been a week already and I haven't had the time to check up on our new comers" He lied

"That is very nice of you" Laura said coming to my side, putting a hand on my back in a protective way

"We are holding up just fine here. Everyone is so kind to us" Maddie said

Tye clasp his hands together "excellant" he walked to Maddie "I must be going, i hope to see you all at the gathering tonight" he shook Maddies hand

"Gathering?" Maddie asked

"No one had told you?" Maddie nodded no "tonight we are holding a gathering for success. We will have music, games for the children, and a huge variety of food. Dont tell anyone but that is my favorite part, we have excellent people who cook"

"What have you accomplished for success?" Maddie asked once again

"For life" Tye said looking at me "also for having new people to join"

"We will be there"

"Great. I have to get going, but I will see you all tonight" with that he left

Laura rubbed my back "he didnt hurt you did he?"

I nodded "no. It was just a weird visit"

"How was it weird Blake?" Maddie asked coming over

"He came to ask me if I would be his second or whatever. He told me to come stay with him and help him with the community" I said

Maddie thought for a minute "second?" He asked

"I asked the same thing. He told me when he dies I would take over"

Laura shook her head "something doesn't seem right" she said sitting down

"Why you?" Maddie said thinking

I looked at him in a 'really' face "sorry, I didnt mean it that way"

"Its fine, i know what you mean" i said sitting between them

"Dont tell anyone about this" Maddie said.

I nodded

"What's wrong Blake, you seem like you're in space?" Jr asked walking backwards

"What- oh nothing"

Conner walked backwards with Jr "you are acting different"

"Can I tell you guys something?" I stopped walking

Bennett turned towards me "hey" he said softly, holding my hand

"Tye came to see me today"

"Havnt seen him in a while" Conner said

"Did he say something to you?" Bennett asked concern

I nodded "he asked me to come live with him. He said when he dies he wants me to take over"

"But, why?" Bennett asked

"I dont know. Early on the boat he told me he saw me as a leader"

"Is that where you got that sword?" Jr questioned

"Yeah"

"Did you tell mom and dad?" Conner asked

I nodded looking at Bennett "you're quiet"

He looked me in his eyes "you should stay with him"

"What?" We all shouted

He shushed us "think about it. He trust you for some reason, and if he trust you he isnt going to hurt you. Something doesn't seem right"

"I agree with Bennett. This place seems to good to be true. Why is there no dead?" Jr said

"And why fight with samurai swords? Guns are clearly better" Conner added

"I think the the swords are cool" I said

Bennett groans "who cares what weapons are better. Stay with him and sneak around"

We stopped talking when more people started to gather around the bond fire. Tye was at the large table full of food eating while everyone was drinking and having a good time.
