Today is the day for the Dance Team send off and the Basketball Send off. We're starting off with the Dance Team send off. The entire Dance Team that is going to state stands in a line in the gym. Our principle comes out with the mic.

"How's everyones day going Rangers?" he screams.

Everyone cheers.

"Good. So today, our amazing dance team and basketball team are going to state. Let's give a big round of applause!" He says.

Everyone does and he hands me the mic.

"Alight Rangers. I'm gonna keep this short and simple. When I started dance my freshman year, I had never danced before. I sucked and was in the back for every single routine. Slowly, I started to progress. Now I'm the captain. Talk about transformation Tuesday." I say as everyone laughs.

"But anyways, in all of my four years, none of these girls have made it to state. We looked and danced like every other team out there. That is until our amazing Varsity Basketball Players decided that they would be willing to help make our dance dreams come true. Now, it was not easy. But we made it and now we're going to win!" I end.

"Thank You Rangers!" I say and hand the principle back the mic.

"Alright. Now, our basketball Team is also going to state. So let's talk to Brrrrody Daniels!" Brody comes up and is given the mic.

"Hey everyone. This is my second time going to state. I haven't gone since my freshman year. That year, we had the Star Basketball player Quintin Fence. He went on to be something great. He inspired my team and I to be great. We've worked our butts off on and off the court. And we couldn't have done it without our amazing tutors who have worked with us to not only makeus better students but also better team mates, friends, and of course dancers. So Thank You Dance Team. You are a big help in making our dreams come true." Brody says looking at me.

I smile and the principle takes back the mic.

"Alright Basketball Stars, as we call your name, you and your rep, can walk through the tunnel."

The principle says as the student body comes around to make a tunnel.

"Drew, Hannah. Noah, Elianna."

The list went on and on.

"And lastly, Both of our captains, Brody and Rae."

We walked through the tunnel and everyone cheered.

"Oh my gosh! That was so much fun!" I say.

"It was." Brody says.

"Ok, we should go pack. The bus leaves in a few hours." Brody says.

I nod.

We drive back to our houses and say goodbye. Once I'm up in my room I just lay down. Everything is so crazy. After sitting with my thoughts for a while, I get up to start packing.

The plan is for us few dancers to ride the bus with the basketball team tomorrow and preform at the game. The rest of the dancers will take a bus Saturday morning, and pick up us basketball players and few dancers. We'll leave from there and head for state.

After I'm done packing I get bored so I climb over to Brody's room. We have about 2 hours before we need to leave and he's in the shower.

I sit down on his bed and just look around. I see a bunch of pictures on his wall and go to inspect closer.

I see a lot of pictures of him with Noah and Eli and Jo and I see a TON of pictures of him and Drew. And then I start to question. What if I just ruined their friendship. I sit down and am lost in the thought that I don't hear the bathroom door open.

"Hey." He says.

"Who's your best friend?" I ask him right away.

"You." He says without hesitating.

"Who was your best friend?" I ask.

He sighs.

"Drew was my best friend." He says.

"Did I ruin your relationship?" I ask.

"No, no. Don't ever think that. Drew and I are still friends. That will never change. It's just that I feel like I can tell you more things than I can tell Drew."

"Are you sure. Because you guys looked so happy in these pictures but I never see you guys talk anymore."

"Drew and I have just been taking some time apart. Don't worry. We're fine." He says.

I sigh.

"Ok." I say.

I realize that Brody just got out of the bathroom.

"Oh... Um, yeah. I'll just um... turn around... Yeah sorry, uh..." I turn and hear him shuffle around the room.

"So do you want to do something before we need to go?" He asks me while he's still getting ready.

"Yeah. Let's go out to dinner." I say.

"Ok, where do you want to go?" Brody asks.

"Let's go to Steak n' Shake." I say.

"Sounds like a plan." He says.

Once he's done getting ready, we load up the car and leave. Once we arrive, our waitress is very "friendly."

"Hi, what can I get you?" She asks looking at Brody.

"I'll have a chocolate shake with whip cream and she'll have a vanilla shake with extra whip cream with chocolate chips on the top." He says.

"I'll get you your shake right away." She says still not looking at me.

Once she leaves I look at Brody.

"So, are you excited for state?" I ask him.

"Which one?" He asks.

"Both." I say.

"I'm really nervous for both." He says.

"Why? You are an amazing dancer and an even better basketball player." I say.

"But theres always that chance of failure." He says.

"Failure is inevitable. And it can't be avoided. But failure is also what makes us strive for more. For something better." I say.

"That's deep. Where'd you steal it from?" He asks.

I laugh.

"You know me so well. I stole it from a commercial." I say.

i smile. Our waitress comes back with our shakes.

"Here is your shake." She says to Brody setting his down nicely.

And then she kind of shoves mine at me.

"What can I get you to eat?" She says.

"I'll get the cheeseburger with extra mayo and pickles. He'll get the steak house meal, Steak Done well with butter bread please." I say.

As she continues to look at Brody, "Will that be all?" She asks.

"Yes." I say firmly.

She rolls her eyes and walks away.

"So what are your plans for college?" Brody asks me.

"Well, I have a few dance scouts coming to state to watch me perform." I say.

"That's amazing. From where?" He asks.

"Um, University of Madison, University of Minnesota, University of Notre Dame, and UCLA." I say.

"That's amazing." He says.

"But that's only a possibility. It's really hard to get into most of those schools for dance." I say.

"You'll get in." He says.

"Thanks." I say.

We continue talking and before we know it we're on the bus. It's game day.
