Meliodas eyed Elizabeth for the next few periods. It bothered him that his newfound friend had to be someone he had to kill. It saddened him a bit, but he knew those feelings were useless now.

His situation reminded him of someone, but he forgot who exactly.

When did classmates ever stop you, Meliodas?

Lunch break soon came around and Meliodas immediately took his stuff to head to the cafeteria. He was starving from all the thinking he'd been doing all morning. He ate nothing during the break too because he looked for Elizabeth.

"Hey! wait up!" Elizabeth called. Speak of the devil. Meliodas stopped his track and gave Elizabeth another confused look, "what? Don't you have other friends?" He asked, then immediately realized his mistake and put his hands up to make her stop if ever she was going to speak,

"Not in a bad way, I just thought you'd have friends that are girls other than me, a boy."

Elizabeth waved her hand dismissively, "it's fine, they don't mind. Were you going to the cafeteria? I'll go with you." Meliodas blinked, he knew he had no way out of this so he just stood there and waited for her to get her things.

Once again, Elizabeth took his hand like it was totally normal to do so. He could already feel and hear the judgment and assumptions of the other students while they walked through the long hallway to the cafeteria.

Meliodas saw that Elizabeth paid no mind to the stares and had a wide smile across her face while he looked like a confused child being dragged by his mother. It was funny in his head, but he'd never laugh out loud. He was always good at hiding anything he was feeling with his poker face.

He looked at Elizabeth again and his eyes roamed around her body. He liked to believe that he was only doing that because of target purposes, not because he'd failed to notice how attractive the girl holding his hand was.

Her hand was warm, which made Meliodas a little uneasy. Thinking in a few hours her warm hand would turn cold and lifeless, not able to grip tightly like this ever again. There was also a thought in the back of his mind that Elizabeth's warmth was comforting for some odd reason.

It made him a bit happy, an emotion that he hasn't felt in years.

But he knew this moment wouldn't last forever.
