"Don't you think the birthday girl deserves to be happy at least once?"
•••
A week later.
Jacob made it on the basketball team with the help of Brandon. They practiced everyday after school. It seemed that Jacob was determined to make it on the team. After Brandon and I's conversation at the park, he became protective. I knew he believed me, but I could tell he feared that I liked Jacob, which I don't; anymore. Every time Jacob hung out with us, Brandon either held my hand or had his arm wrapped around me, he even kissed me in front of him, knowing it'll make him jealous. And I could tell it worked. Jacob had it written all over his face.
As of now, we're all sitting at lunch. Brandon to my left, his arm around my waist, and Emma to my right. And Jacob sitting in front of me. Including the rest of the basketball team, which included Justin as well. Despite the slight tension between Brandon, Jacob and I, we all enjoyed ourselves. We made jokes, laughed, Justin even threw grapes at Emma in which she threw fries right back. It was obvious that they were flirting with each other, but it was also obvious that they were too stubborn to admit it.
"Hey, I need to talk to you." Brandon whispers in my ear while grabbing my hand and helping me up. Once we exited the cafeteria, he turned me around and placed a scarf over my eyes and tied behind my head.
"Is the blindfold really necessary?" I chuckled.
"Yes." I heard him say. He gently grabbed both my hands and slowly walked in front of me, making sure not to let me fall.
"Where are you taking me?" I asked him. He didn't respond but only kept walking.
A few minutes later we came to a stop. I wend to take off the blindfold before he stopped me.
"Stop!" he gently grabbed my wrists, "Don't take it off yet."
"What are you doing?" I was becoming anxious. I hate surprises.
"Just give me a minute." He said. I crossed my arms as I patiently waited.
I heard a few drawers open and close. I heard desks being moved around the room. I was confused as to what he was doing, and why he was doing it to begin with.
"Okay," he let out a sigh, "You can take it off now." I untied it from behind my head and let it fall off my face. He stood in front of me with a stupid smile plastered on his face. I grew confused even more. He looked amused.
"What?" I questioned as I began to think that there was something on my face that he was smiling at.
"Turn around." He nodded his head behind me. I slowly turned around to see balloons, plastic covers covering the walls, followed by Emma, Adrian, Emmet and the whole basketball team holding cans of silly string in their hands. Now I became scared.
"You ready?" I heard Brandon from behind me. I turned around to see him with shaving cream in one hand and a can of silly string in the other.
"I feel betrayed..... and scared." I said which caused people to laugh. And in the matter of seconds, I was covered in silly string and shaving cream that covered my face. Luckily, my hair was in a pony tail.
I went to hide behind Emma who handed me a can of silly string and saving cream as well. I went behind desks and made my way to Emmet and Brandon who were laughing and shot them in the face with it. From the side I heard Adrian laughing so I turned my head in his direction and shot him. He looked me dead in the eye before chasing me and picking me up, throwing me over his shoulder, spinning me around.
