Elodis had soon fallen asleep against Emery, who just let her and didn't move her at all, occasionally moving hair away from her mouth but that was about it.
"Aaaa, I wanna go out, into the town! Go shopping or something!" Alex complained.
"We will soon, but not now. Try to get some sleep." Emery said softly.
"I don't need sleep." But in Truth, he was just scared for the vivid nightmares that always haunted his sleep. Silvia sighed, tinkering with small gadgets she was working on.
"Yes, you do. You'll hallucinate otherwise, they might have some sleeping medicine somewhere."
"No!!" Alex yelled, louder and more frantic than he had intended. Silvia stopped and stared. Elodis had stirred in her sleep, moving and burying her head into Emery's shoulder.
"Woah.. okay then.." Emery muttered, wide-eyed.
"Sorry..." he flops down on a pillow and is asleep within minutes
"It's okay" Emery said quietly.
Alex wakes up 30 minutes later. "Shopping. Now." Silvia turns her head towards him. "Sure. Let's go. Who's coming?"
"I'll go." Emery said. A few moments later she was shaking Elodis awake, who still looked a tiny bit tired.
"I'll stay here if Elodis still wants to sleep." Harper says
"No, I'm fine. Where are we going?"
"Shopping!" Alex says excitedly.
"Yeah, you can ride with me if you want." Emery offered to Elodis.
"Can I get dressed first?"
"Yeah, let's let everyone make sure they're ready," Silvia puts in.
((After they get on the road))
Alex insists they stop at a small shop.
"Why do you wanna stop here?" Silvia asks.
"There's a ukelele."
Emery and Elodis hopped off of the horse. Elodis had decided it would be a good idea to wear one of those little red riding hood looking capes, except it was black. Alex rushed in, bought the ukelele, put it in his backpack, and rushed out.
"Okay, where to next?"
"I want to stop at a clothing store." Emery said.
"Okay, there's one just down the block." Silvia says, looking up from her phone.
"Okay, Emery and I will go then." Elodis said, pulling her hair back with black ribbon.
"Oh, I'm on babysitting duty then?"
"Yup." Emery said, hopping onto her horse. Elodis got on behind her, wrapping her arms around Emery's waist so she wouldn't fall.
Silvia ended up getting only a few things for herself, and the two 12 year olds seemed fine. Emery and Elodis soon set off to go to the other store, coming back with their arms far too full.
"I'll buy more backpacks..""No, I have a bunch, remember?" Elodis said
"Okay.. then let's go."
The two nodded and Elodis held onto the bags with her arms around Emery's waist.
"Multitasking"
"At its finest."
"Yes" Silvia said.
"Okay lets go. We're gonna set off again today, right?"
"The sun is setting—"
"Tomorrow then."
They set back onto the road to the hotel, Emery and Elodis whispering to each other during the time.
