After dinner, everyone had gone back to their bedrooms. No matter how much Christian had played off his rage, it was still there. Once we were back inside our room, the most he would answer me with was a low growl.
I knew he was frustrated, but I couldn't understand the annoyance, especially towards me. Some mutt tried to stand up to him, the alpha of the Bade pack. Why exactly would he feel threatened by him anyways?
I took a quick shower before crawling into the strange bed. It felt weird, the stuffed mattress making my back ache and every single attempt to fall asleep in vain.
Christian remained in the bathroom, and in secret I tried looking up comfortable sleeping positions for pregnant women.
I never thought I would say that. Just a year ago I hated this man with all my heart, and now he's gone and gotten me pregnant. It's amazing what so little time can do to change a person.
Of course, I have to have a baby at the exact same time the rogues choose to wage war on us. How am I supposed to help now? Christian will probably never let me outside, let alone near a rogue. What exactly am I meant to do?
At least, for now I can act normal. I'm not showing yet, but soon enough, I will.
And the second you do, Christian is going to be mad you didn't tell him.
I rolled my eyes. I know he's going to be mad, but I don't know how I'm supposed to tell him. It seems like every chance I get, something happens and ruins it all.
You could've told him yesterday, or the day before. You know you could tell him now! He wouldn't be angry at all!
At the same moment, Chris left the bathroom. He walked to his suitcase, a towel hanging around his waist. My eyes followed him carefully, all the while my mind was fighting with Evangeline.
Tell him!
I sighed. If anything, Evan was right. For once in her life, she was advising me to do something good.
Christian heard me, and looked up. He had managed to put on a pair of shorts, and was making his way to the bed. "What's wrong?"
I watched him pull the sheets up to his waist, lying down onto his folded arms.
"I'm...just thinking."
I could tell he didn't believe me one bit. I couldn't even manage to lie to him anymore. Nancy told me to tell him when the time was right, and there couldn't be a time more ideal than now, I guess.
But if I tell him, I'll be on house arrest for the next seven or eight months. I don't think I can handle sitting back while everyone else is on the front lines, let alone fighting for me when I'm the very person who should be out there.
"Lena." He pushed. I looked away from the worried eyes, scared that maybe I would give away everything in that moment.
Do it!
Our eyes met once again, but this time I just gave him a small smile. "This is just really new. I mean, the first time you came to one of these you were a little shocked right? And with what happened tonight, aren't you slightest bit curious?"
He shook his hand, burying his face in his arms in the pillow. "Yeah. Go to sleep, we have to get up early tomorrow."
I nodded although he couldn't see me and slipped under the covers. I felt him adjust his body so that he was just behind my own. Two hands slipped around my chest, pulling me into a warm body with sparks flying at every last inch.
My eyes fell shut after a while, wishing I actually had the guts to tell him. Maybe I will tomorrow.

"Alena."
I groaned, hating the very voice who pulled me away from a very nice sleep. I could hear Christian shuffling about the room before two hands were in my body, gently shaking me.
"Stop!" I moaned, dragging the word and slapping the air blindly until I found Chris.
"Hurry. Breakfast is in an hour. Your hair is a mess."
Despite how much I hated it, when I finally managed to look at myself in the mirror I cringed. My hair was nothing short of a bird's nest. Not to mention the makeup I had forgotten to take off yesterday was smeared and little red dots were waiting in its place.
I jumped in the shower, scrubbing every inch of my body before dressing up in the second outfit Nancy had approved. This time I wore a navy blue dress that was cinched at my waist. The skirt of it wasn't too tight against my body but hugged it code enough, leaving me to finish with my hair and makeup.
Chris was waiting for me by the time I had finished, and as we walked to Mario's door, I spotted the same alpha from last night.
Instantly, Christian's demeanor grew rabid. The man smiled at us, not even acknowledging the fuming alpha next to me and instead waving in my direction.
"Mutt." Christian muttered, knowing the man could hear the insult. He only kept walking, ignoring the man beside me and angering him all the more. I grabbed his arm, stroking his bicep softly to calm him down.
"Alright, so breakfast and negotiations, right?" Mario said, slipping out of his room. He noticed Chris's annoyed expression and glanced towards me. I shook my head, turning the three of us to walk down the hall the man disappeared through.
"I'll do the talking." I muttered, glancing at Christian who was so clearly agitated but he presence of this Ben dude. "Besides, it's fun playing ambassador."
On my right, I heard a sharp cackle from the amused beta. I wasn't trying to be funny, was I?
"Wait until you meet the alphas."
