'So, news?' Tony asked at break. We were all standing by the bike sheds chatting about what we thought the gig would be like.

'Well, it's two weeks on Saturday...' I replied. Sam cocked his head to the side and raised an eyebrow.

'Is that it?'

'After Sephy's birthday.' I added.

He pulled a face, 'why do we need to know that?'

Ian grinned, 'you like her don't you?'

'No way!' I lied, my eyes widened in shock.

A slow smile grew on David's face, 'but you're blushing.'

'No-' I blushed. The guys laughed as I flipped David off.

'How long were you talking anyway?' I shrugged.

'Where did you go to talk?' Ian asked.

'Yeah, did you stay at Maggie's?' Tony wanted to know.

'No, we went to a park,' I muttered.

'Nice. I bet you started swinging instead of talking, right' Sam guessed sarcastically. I grinned at him, wondering how the guys would respond to the fact that Sam was completely right.

'Maybe?' Four pairs of shocked eyes looked on at me.

‘I really don’t get why you are a heartbreaker…’ Tony muttered.

'It wasn't that bad actually.' I stopped myself there before I started saying how much it felt like flying or something.

'You are unreal,' Ian shook his head.

'All right mate! Hold on,' I protested, 'you can't talk can you? Don't tell me you don't like Sammie!' Ian's eyebrows disappeared underneath his eyebrows.

'You don't think she's noticed do you?' We all laughed.

'She's noticed,' I teased, 'but I believe she likes you too.' Ian's cheeks grew hot as Sam punched him playfully on the arm.

'You dawg! Going at it secretly!' I winked at him as he stared at me in disbelief. Ian was incredibly romantic and soft on the inside, though he'd never admit it.

'If it means anything, I think you two look great together and I think she likes you too.' David told him with a smile. Ian grinned. David's word was final, they stopped bugging him.

'Hey, Nathan, if you, um,' Tony began, 'if you seriously don't like Sephy, do you think...' He stopped, lips twisting attempting at a joke, but I could see the seriousness in his eyes.

I was shocked. Of course other guys liked her. But I hadn't thought about that. And now Tony, one of my best friends, did. I could feel myself getting jealous. I was pissed off, and I didn't like it. She was controlling me. Without knowing it, Sephy was controlling me.

The bell rang just at the right time. I turned away without replying and headed towards P.E.

Tony wanted Sephy but I knew now that I did. I could let him try seeing as Sephy clearly wasn't going to go for me knowing what she knew about how I've treated girls... But somehow, for some reason... I felt like there was a chance for me.

I had a chance with Sephy.

All of a sudden I felt like Jewel's optimism had only just grabbed me. She thought I was cute, things with Nick weren't working, I had a chance.
