"Lance, come on! We can't be late on the first day!" Allura shouted from the bottom of the stairs, frustrated as she looked at the clock on the wall, "Lance!"

"I'm going!" the boy known as Lance would shout in return, reaching his arm under his bed to reach for his blue sneakers to then put them on before heading down. "We'll be on time, the bus passes after the Southside High one," he mentioned, grabbing his backpack before announcing for their departure to his mother, "have a good day kids!" she would shout from the washroom.

The two siblings walked down the sidewalk, Lance's blue eyes watching the white clouds in the sky before he was suddenly halted by Allura's arm getting in his way. "What is it?" he asked, then looking ahead of them to see a bus pull up, the words Southside High School being imprinted, which made Lance roll his eyes. "Allura, it's not a big deal," he muttered, his sister looking up at him, "they're delinquents, Lance, they cannot be trusted," she stated, the two continuing their walk to the stop after the teens were picked up.

"So? There are Northsiders that are just as bad, if not worse, I don't see the difference," Lance crossed his arms, "they might be a whole other alien species from us but at the end of the day, we all bleed the same."

...

On their bus ride to school, Lance had put on music to headphones he and Allura would share as they had the same taste. "Fun fact, this artist is part Galra," he mentioned, purposefully turning the song up, "what's the other part?" Allura questioned, feeling uneasy about such a fun fact, "wouldn't you like to know," was all her brother responded with, which caused her to smack him over the head.

...

Lance took a seat in his classroom, which he did have slight struggle in finding, giving a sigh of boredom as he knew this senior year would be like almost every year.

Plain, boring, and full of tests.

Though he perked up at the sound of the morning announcements coming on. The principal went on about greeting the Alteans back to school for another year, and also welcome any new students that would be joining the school as freshmen. However, one particular piece of information caught Lance's attention.

"Now students, I would like to inform you all that the funding for Southside High School has been cut. In conclusion to this news, the Galra will be transferred and joining us for the rest of their school year and moving forward. Now we must all show them respect and honor when they start classes tomorrow, that is all. Good morning and have an exciting rest of your day."

Holy shit... Lance couldn't help the smile that was forming on his lips. He was beyond excited with this news, imagining the many friends he could be able to make, or even the potential love interests he could have. Southside High is closing and this couldn't been such a major improvement to his final year.

...

"Hunk, do you know how amazing this new sounds?" Lance exclaimed as he sat at lunch with his two friends, "I can finally have a Galran friend without Allura pestering me about avoiding them!" His friends glanced at each other before Pidge spoke up in reply, "that sounds great and all but what if it ends up in us just getting plummeted by those delinquents?" she asked, tone laced in concern. "I don't think that will be the case... or at least, it won't be common," Hunk explained, "I mean, your brother happens to be dating the Takashi Shirogane."
