It was exactly three months ago that Peter and Luna broke up, and she had to be honest; it still hurt like it was yesterday. She had tried to reach out to him, but Peter told her every time that her life would be better without him. Why can't he understand that it's not? He's the best thing that ever happened to her. They share a strong bond, one she'll never have with anyone else. She's his mate.
After the break-up, Luna told her family about the baby. They didn't exactly know how to react. At first they were disappointed, she was an 18 year old girl, gotten pregnant by a 40 year old man.
When they heard about the break-up, their disappointment faded away, and they felt sorry for her. They knew how much she loved him, he meant the whole world to her. The father of her kid left her. The child had to grow up without him.
After a while, they were actually excited about the baby. Scott was going to be an uncle and Melissa and Raf were going to be grandparents. Let's be honest: Scott was happier with his new title than Melissa and Rafael were.
The pack knew about the baby and the break-up too. Again, the two sided emotions came. They were happy for her because of the baby, but they felt sorry for her because of Peter. Derek even tried to talk sense into his uncle, but nothing helped. Derek says he's full of self pity, and slowly changing back to the person he was before he met Luna. The evil alpha. That was a bad sign.
After another three months, Peter was still gone, and they only thing that kept Luna going was his baby inside of her and the memories of him. The warmth of his body, his laugh, his beautiful eyes. She longed for it more and more as time passed. She needed him, now more than ever.
Peter was exhausted. 6 months without her. It took everything of him to not go to her place and wrap her in his arms, or to call her and tell her how much he missed her. He wanted it, so much, but he kept telling himself that she would be better off without him. Because she was. Right?
Eight months. Eight fucking months. The baby was almost here but Peter was not. He still wasn't. Luna didn't want to believe that what they had was really over, but the pack and her family tried to tell her that she had to. She wasn't supposed to focus on Peter anymore, but on her baby's future. Peter's baby's future. This is exactly why she can't get him out of her head. That thing inside of her reminded her of Peter. Every fucking minute of the day. Will the baby be a constant reminder of Peter when they grow up? Will it hurt every time she looks at them?
Sometimes she dreamed about Peter coming back. She would wake up in de middle of the night, crying. Scott had been awake almost every night for the past 2 months now, comforting her when she had one of those dreams again. And of those she had a lot. After these eight months, she had to believe that there was almost no chance of Peter coming back. She finally accepted her pregnancy and that kept her going all the time.
Until...
