He had been in front of her door for a few minutes now. Would she even open the door if he knocked?

Peter sighed and buried his head in his hands. He loves her so much it hurts. Why did he leave her?

He got her pregnant. That's why.

It was in Paris on an evening of the full moon, and they had too much red wine. His vision was clouded. Once back in the hotel room, things got heated and they forgot to do the do without a condom.

How could he be so stupid? He was stupid in the first place to let himself love her, but it was the best mistake he ever made. But this one? He couldn't forgive himself for it. She said she wanted to keep the baby, but Peter couldn't live with himself, seeing how he fucked up her whole life, her future. It hurt so much to see her like that, that he couldn't do it anymore. He still loved her, that's not why he left. It was that she would never be happy if he would still be in her life.

Also the idea of being a father scared him. Yes, he did have Malia, but that's something different. He didn't know about her existence for seventeen years, so he never did the diaper-thing, or any raising at all. He could already hear everyone in the pack laugh. Peter Hale as a father. He could never be, he knew that. He used to be a serial killer, what are the statistics for being a good, and loving, father, when you're a serial killer?

He couldn't. So he left her, 8 months ago. Until he heard about the news today. It was her father. He had come to his apartment. He wouldn't do that if he wasn't desperate, Rafael hated Peter. He told Peter that Luna had a miscarriage and that she was on the edge of life, on the verge of having lost everything that made her life worth it. That the only thing she really needed was Peter. His heart was aching and his inner wolf was howling to get back to his mate and make her feel loved and comfort her. So he did.

He finally knocked on the door and when it opened, he saw a terrible looking Luna. Her eyes bloodshot, obviously from crying, her cheeks stained with dried tears and her hair in a messy bun. She tried to hide her face immediately.

His heart ached. So much. Tears popped up in his eyes. "Luna, is there any chance we could talk?"

Luna shook her head no and swallowed. Why now? He made it very clear that there was no way that they were getting back together. Then why was he here? Her lips trembled as tears started to stream down her face. She doesn't want Peter to see what he did to her so she closes the door.

Peter could stop it from closing and looked at her, a tear rolling down his face. "Luna, we need to talk."

She finally opened the door wide enough to let him in. When he did, they just stood there awkwardly.

"I-I heard about the baby," Peter said sadly. "I'm so sor-"

Peter didn't get the chance to finish his sentence, getting interrupted by Luna. "Why now? I-I.. Where have you been the past 8 months? Where were you when I needed you the most? Where were you when I found out about.. about-" She sobbed, not finishing her last sentence. She broke down completely. She fell to the ground, crying.

Peter couldn't handle it anymore. He fell to his knees next to the girl and pulled her sobbing body into his. "I'm sorry, I'm so sorry, babygirl," he murmured.

She tried to push him away at first but something inside of her didn't want to. She knew she shouldn't, but the warmth of Peter's body is what kept her going most of the time. She had build up her walls, and in the end Peter had been the one to break them down.

Peter pulls her from the ground and carries her upstairs to her bed. He lays her down and kisses her head. Luna takes him by surprise, grabbing his face and pulling him into a gentle yet needing kiss. Peter kisses her back and sinks into the mattress next to her. After they pull back, Peter pulls her body into his, inhaling the scent that he had been missing in his life for 8 months. His inner wolf was howling in satisfaction, he was finally with his mate.

Baby or not, Luna knew that Peter was the most important thing she needed in her life, and she couldn't live without him. After she heard about the miscarriage, her life had stopped. Had she lost everything? What was her purpose in life? She was happy with that baby. She was happy Peter was the father. But Peter didn't want a baby, or at least she thought, he kept telling himself that she and the baby would be better off without him. And now he was finally here, everything fell back in place. It was just meant to be this way, she thinks.

Luna suddenly felt really tired, the past 8 months had sucked the energy out of her, day in, day out. It was exhausting. Now, Peter was finally here, and she didn't have to long for him anymore. She was finally in his arms and was almost falling asleep. "Peter?" She asks with a tired voice.

"Yes babygirl?" Peter kisses her head.

"I missed you." Those words stung in Peter's heart. He had missed her too. "Never leave me again," she says snuggling into Peter's body.

"I won't," he promises, "I love you."

"I love you too," was the last thing she said before she fell asleep.

Peter could stay awake just to hear her breathing. Watch her smile while she's sleeping, while she's far away dreaming.
He could stay lost in this moment forever, because every moment spent with Luna, is one he treasures. He doesn't want to close his eyes, he doesn't want to fall asleep. Because he'd miss Luna so much, and from now on he doesn't want to miss a thing. He's not letting her go ever again. 'Cause even when he dreams of Luna, the sweetest dream would never do, he'd still miss her.
