Chapter 1---Study Sesh

*Lexie's P.O.V.*

"I thought you'd never show up." Sam chuckled, looking at me in my frantic state.

"I woke up late." I replied, throwing my barely combed hair into a bun, and looking down at my lazy outfit, which consisted of an oversized Texas Longhorns sweatshirt and black leggings. The clock by the door read 8:10, so I had five minutes to organize my science notes until class started.

"So out of all the clothes in your closet, you decided to wear a shit stained sweatshirt?" Sam teased, nodding towards my Texas sweatshirt.

"The color is burnt orange. Not shit." I laughed, shaking my head at Sammy's typical Texas remarks. He hated them with a passion since he was a die-heart Husker fan.

"I'm just trying to give you some fashion advice." He shrugged.

"From you? No thanks." I smiled. "Anyways, I have this friend, who's birthday is coming up this Friday, but I don't think I should ask them to come to the Husker and Longhorns game in Lincoln with me because they always remind me that it's not good to wear shit. What do you suggest I do?"

Sam gave me a skeptical look.

"Happy early birthday." I said, digging through my backpack to find the tickets. "Two tickets. You and me. This Friday, December 11." (I'm not for sure that this is Sam's birthday, but I could've sworn I read it somewhere.)

"Thank you, thank you, thank you." Sam smiled, giving me a quick, friendly hug, and picking up the tickets to examine them.

"Trying to make sure they're real?" I giggled.

"No, I believe you, but I can't believe you got me tickets." He said in awe.

Before I could respond, the teacher walked in, and the bell rang.

"Good morning class. Today, we will be continuing our research projects with our partners. Last class period we picked a topic, so this class period I expect you to get your introductory and first body paragraph done. You may begin." Our teacher, Ms.Winters, instructed.

"How much did you get done ya nerd?" Sam winked, turning to face me.

"I'm not a nerd!" I giggled, pulling out my laptop.

"Isn't your grade like an A+?" He asked, raising an eyebrow, and smirking. "Mine's like barely a B."

"Thanks to me, and I didn't get anything done because I had to drive to Lincoln to get the tickets." I explained.

"I'm just so shocked. Thank you so much Lexie." He smiled, opening up his laptop.

"I'm just excited to see the Longhorns kick butt." I giggled.

"Yeah right! The Huskers will have no problem beating them." Sam shot back.

"Let's make a bet. If I win, you have to make me cookies, so I can bring them to my grandparents for Christmas. My mom wants me to make something, but I'm not really in the mood." I said.

"Alright, and if I win, you have to take me out to dinner the next day." He stated.

"Your on." I said, shaking his hand.

By the time class was over, Sam and I realized that we accomplished nothing, due to our talking.

"Remember students: This project will be due in three days." Ms.Winters said, just before the bell rang.

"Hey Lexie, do you want to come over to my house after school since we didn't really get anything done today?" Sam asked nervously, packing up his stuff.
