Chapter 3---Game Time
*Lexie's P.O.V.*
"You should pack this one!" I exclaimed, ripping a black, red, and white zigzag Husker shirt off of a hanger, and throwing it at Sam.
"I forgot I had that." He chuckled, setting the bag of chips aside, folding the shirt, and stuffing it in his bag.
The whole week went by pretty fast, and today was Friday! This morning when I got to school, I was carrying a little sport bag with my stuff in it for tonight. That way, Sam and I can leave for Lincoln right after school. As fate may have it, he didn't have anything packed, so here I am, standing in his closet, helping him pack.
"And this." I added, throwing him a big Westside football sweatshirt.
"Why not a Huskers sweatshirt?" He asked, folding it up, and putting it in his bag.
"Because it looks comfy, so I might want to wear it the next day or something." I explained.
Sam shook his head, pretending to be disappointed. "I think I got everything." He observed.
"Let's go then!" I squealed, running out of the room.
Ozzie followed me, so I scooped him up into my arms, and ran downstairs. Outside the window you could see that it was snowing. Great. I walked over to the counter, and grabbed a banana.
"I'll miss you Oz." I cooed, setting him down, so I could eat.
He just sat there, tilting his head up at me.
"Sam!" I yelled, getting my coat on.
"What?" He said, coming down the stairs.
"Ready?" I asked, wanting to double-check, and taking another bite of my banana.
"Yeah, but before we leave town, we should stop at Walmart." He suggested.
"Why?" I laughed.
"Because then we can get snacks for the trip." Sam explained.
"It better be snappy. I don't wanna be late." I warned, smiling.
"Just get in the car you meanie." He joked, opening the front door for me.
I scoffed at his comment, playing along.
"Bye Ozzie." He waved, shutting the door behind him.
I hopped into the passenger's seat and set my bag down on the back seat. Sam did the same before starting the car. He turned the radio up a little bit, and Life Of The Party by Shawn Mendes was halfway done playing.
"Wait!" I yelled.
"What?" Sam gasped, acting like I didn't just scare the shit out of him.
Since he was already distracted from his racing heart, I reached up and snatched the SnapBack off of his head.
"Hey! You shouldn't steal from the birthday boy!" He whined.
"I'm borrowing it." I laughed. "Don't worry, you'll get it back...maybe."
"No coffee for you then." He teased, backing out of the driveway.
"No, pretty please! It's so cold, and I might freeze to death if I don't get something to warm me up." I giggled.
"The heat is on." Sam chuckled.
"That's not enough." I lied, giving him my best puppy dog eyes.
"Fine. Where do you want to go?" He asked.
"Grounded." I chirped.
"You mean that little family-run business?" He said.
