Chapter V

A week had passed since her birthday. Christmas was just around the corner—only two days away—and soon, they'd be eating fruit salad again.

She had been craving it since last month. At least now, it was close. Soon, she'd finally get a taste.

"Good morning, Baby..." It was Tristan. As usual, he was never late picking her up in the morning. "Wow, is my coffee on time too?"

She handed him the cup and kissed his lips. "Of course. Gryffin and Slyther left early—they have a Christmas get-together. Raven just wanted to sleep in, but he'll help with the Wizards later."

"Papa!" Huffle rushed downstairs, instantly grabbing Tristan's attention. He greeted her with a big hug. "You're here! I missed you so much."

"I missed you too, Princess," he replied warmly. "Don't worry—starting today, you'll see Papa almost every day."

"I want to come with you!" she pleaded sweetly. "Please, Mommy... Please, Papa! I promise I'll behave."

"Your Papa has work today, sweetheart—"

"It's okay, Baby," Tristan said, gently placing a hand on her shoulder. "I can bring her along."

"Babe, you're busy... Don't you have a presentation today for—" He cut her off with a kiss. Huffle giggled, and she was left speechless.

"Let's go? We'll drop you off at the Wizards," Tristan smiled. "Are you ready, Princess?"

"Yes, Papa!"

Aha! "You two planned this, didn't you?" Huffle never showered in the morning unless she was going out. They got her good!

Huffle ran upstairs, laughing. Tristan pulled Maricar by the waist and brushed her cheek gently. "She called me last night—asked if I could convince you."

She chuckled. "That's so Huffle." She brushed off the lint from his ¾ sleeve polo. "Wait. Why do you look extra handsome today?"

"You're extremely beautiful every day—I need to keep up." He grinned. "One step at a time."

"I'm ready! Papa, let's go!"

Tristan opened the door for her and Huffle. "By the way, Mama called last night," he said. "She just wanted to check in and said she misses you and the kids."

That made her smile. "I'll message her later." Tristan's parents were in Switzerland. He was born and raised there before moving to the Philippines in high school and deciding to settle down here for good.

His parents were kind. Unlike the typical ones who disapprove when their son dates someone with "baggage," they were thrilled that she had four kids. They had long been yearning for grandchildren.

They understood her story—and more than that, they accepted her past. Back when she didn't believe anyone could truly love and accept her, these people proved her wrong.

Because of them, her faith grew stronger. Her belief, deeper.

When they arrived at the Wizards, Tristan parked and walked her to the office. Huffle greeted the crew, too.

She gave a few instructions to her secretary. Before she returned to work, the secretary commented, "Wow, you're such a loveable boss."

Maricar laughed and wrapped her arms around Tristan's neck. "Don't you have a meeting?"

"I don't feel like leaving. I just want to look at you," he said with a smile.

"Are you guilty of something?" she squinted at him. "You've been extra sweet since last night..." They were together the night before. Wait a second—he'd been taking her home to his condo first before their house for a week now!
