Social definition of genders

Man: person who possesses the sex that produces gametes (spermatozoa) with which a female may be fertilized or inseminated to produce offspring./A person with the qualities associated with males, such as bravery, spirit, or toughness.

Woman: person who possesses the sex that can bear offspring or produce eggs, distinguished biologically by the production of gametes (ova) which can be fertilized by male gametes.

These are the definitions many people would give when asked about the meaning of "the two genders".
These are not wrong definitions, just highly incomplete ones.

A gender must not be defined based on what the person looks like or was born as but based on how the person identifies. And there are obviously more than two genders.

Some will say "there are biologically two genders: XY and XX". Well... let me tell you this: WRONG! There are many people around the world whose chromosomes and/or genitalia do not correspond to the "normal" definition of man/woman (e.g. XXY chromosomes, hermaphrodites, etc.).

Moreover, one cannot be described as a man/woman according to their qualities. A man doesn't have to be strong, courageous, dominating to be a man. Women are powerful too and men are perfectly able to show weakness, emotion and even a part of femininity.

Men and women also don't have to follow the "rules" society imposes them.
No, women don't have to shave and yes, men can without being called "fagot" or other insults thrown at gay men or trans women (yes, a cishet man can shave).
No, girls don't have to like pink and playing with "girl" toys and yes, boys can.
No, women don't have to wear skirts and dresses and yes, men can without doing drag or being trans.
No, women don't have to have long hair and wear makeup and yes, man can, again without doing drag or being trans.
No, there are no jobs for women only and others for men.

Every person should feel free to be who themselves regardless of their gender identity. And the rules built in ancient times must now be broken so everyone, men and women, cis and trans, can be able to do what the f*ck they want with their life and body.

In response to all of this oppression, some non-binary purposefully break all those rules to break through the "two-gender" system (e.g. AMAB NB wearing dresses and makeup, AFAB NB cutting their hair and binding their chest).

Acceptance seems far away but with time and education, hopefully put voices will be heard.
But remember always: society can not dictate who you "must be". Only you can decide. Only. You.

Also, remember: being trans is not a trend or a choice. Trans women are women and trans men are men. They're as valid as cisgenders and everything I've said above applies to the transgender community.
