It wasn't until all eyes were gazing upon me that I noticed the lack of blinking. The longer their eyes curiously scanned me, the more I swallowed uncomfortably.
"Look," initiated Julius motioning to a grey ottoman. "Why don't you take a seat? This will take a while."
Woof I thought.
I obediently went and sat suddenly feeling impatient. I caught Demetri's smirk from the side of my eye and chose to ignore it.
Julius raised his brow at Demetri before floating over towards me.
"As you may know of course we are...a uhh let's see...no. How about we begin with you telling us what you know already? I- I mean we are all aware that you may well have nothing at all which is completely understandab-"
"I know that there are things happening in this household which you do not want to leave these gates. I am aware that there are-" I paused looking up at his face.
Demetri gave a small nod for me to continue.
"That there are impossible things happening. Unnatural. Things that I once questioned only in myths, legends, stories...fairytales," I scoffed.
I stood, making my way to the most intimidating person whose eyes I had avoided for the entirety of my stay since Evelyn was with me.
"Mr Griffin," I said.
His chin raised ever so slightly, his eyes below mine as he sat yet they were level above my own somehow.
"There is an authority you possess that I'm not blind to. At first I questioned it, I thought I was going mad. But I had witnessed it time and time again. First with Evelyn but that was enough to see the- the manipulation you had over her. As if you're very own words could trigger her every move," I finished.
His eyes lost some of their naturally challenging slits, now curling back to stare blankly at me as if I was a fish flopping about on a sink.
Swallowing, I swayed willingly over to Demetri and returned his proud smile. He seemed awed.
"Demetri. Whether I be paranoid or just oblivious to your mind I'm not sure yet-"
"What do you mean 'mind'?" he challenged.
'You're a bad kisser', I thought.
"Am not!" he recoiled.
"Ha!" I sang pleased that he had fallen for it. He can hear my thoughts! "I knew it I knew it I knew it!"
Demetri shared his fathers reaction staring plumply at me.
"Wait...you can hear my thoughts...oh no," I reflected. That means he's heard everything...everything.
"Well not everything," he confessed looking frustrated.
"Oh wow I'm really going to have to get used to that," I scoffed.
"What do you mean not everything?" Asked Patrima as she came closer taking a seat on the armrest of a nearby couch.
"Meaning, that sometimes I can hear her thoughts, sometimes shes just-"
"Just static?" Interrupted Julius.
He stood with his finger carefully on his chin, his gaze resting on me shamelessly. He scoffed and returned his gaze outside seeming to be lost in a train of thought.
My hands were opening and closing with excitement from what I was hearing. Just days ago, all this would have seemed impossible, delinquent. Just days ago I hadn't seen black demon-like figures or death right before my eyes. I hadn't seen sacrifice nor such selfless love.
