Demetri's Perspective
My breath staggered when I grazed into Lilith's mind, lying peacefully nearby. We shared the same view, the night sky rich with stars. She saw the moon.
Only the moon looked so much more intriguing through her eyes. As if her eyes had a filter.
Strange.
Yet beautiful.
Was she always radiant like this?
I felt her shyly gaze upon me, I always knew when someone was looking. Father said it was a curse but I definitely thought otherwise, nobody could sneak up on me that way.
I pivoted my head so that my gaze met hers.
Those eyes, it was like looking straight at the moon.
Stop it Demetri! My head told me... but my desires...
How is it possible that the moonlight didn't glow off her eyes, but instead resonate like a pool in them? As if a small piece of the moon had been cut and placed right into her design?
How does her smooth cheeks edge in the slightest, creating the smallest contouring shadow, a product of years of hiding it?
How does her slightest of scarlet lip parts mesmerise me in this small matter of days knowing her?
How does her hair shine like the stars above, and breathe in the wind like silk?
How does she not realise?
How could such a small, fragile human be victim to such atrocities and come out every single day with a mask on?
No. She wasn't small.
She was a human, yes.
But she was a fighter. Stronger than half of the wolves and resurrected I'd met.
She had a different kind of strength altogether, one I dared admire.
Unable to help myself, I peered into her mind once more. Only this time I didn't see the moon.
My breathing stopped altogether. It's not like I needed it, it was a habit. But now I doubted I'd ever remember how to again.
I felt my eyes widen and my posture straighten.
Impossible!
Through her vision I saw the wards. The wards my uncle put up every single month. The wards that shielded our home from the horrors of the beyond. From the nightmares that humanity wouldn't dare conjure in their dreams. The wards no human could catch on the clearest of days
The wards that only the resurrected could see....
Hehe sorry I know it's short AS HELLLLL!
But it's an extra to the last chapter!
P.S sorry next chapter is taking a while! Still in progress!
