" You not gone introduce me " he said removing his hat. My father looked like he hasn't aged a day but that made it worse for him because that's the same face I had to look at while my mother was getting her ass beat.
*Shine has a flashback * (' "mom! " I said shaking her till her two black eyes opend. "Malcom ? ... What are you doing up this late " I leaned over to see if my father was still sleeping before speaking again. " Auntie Fran said we can stay with her ,come on " I pulled her out of bed and put my 8 year old sister on my back, walking towards the front door. She pulled my arm stopping me. " Baby, we can't " " yes we can ! Ant Fran is only two busses away " I said tugging her night gown. She stood there wiping her swollen eyes trying to wake her self up " where'd you get money from ?" " Cutting yards and cleaning floors for Mr.Chevy now hurry" I tugged on her more but she wouldn't budge. " Mary what the hell going on in here " my dad said turning on the lights. With my sister still on my back I stood in front of my mother " We're going to stay with Fran " he laughed and lighted a newport. " You think you a man cus you turned 16 n made some chump change .... You wanna go * blows smoke* go... There's the door" my mother didn't say anything at first but then she turned around and kneeled in front of me " you go...". I couldn't believe she was saying this " what! No I'm not leaving you." I said with tears rolling down my cheeks. Pushing my mother down he rushed towards me and my sister and I took her hand and ran out the door. " Go on get ! " He said shooing us away. He gaurded the door to make sure we left the yard. My mother started shedding tears and praying . my little sister tried to walk back to the house. " Mommy ... " She cried reaching for her. " C'mon on Alicia " I grabbed her hand and put her on my back and started walking. Before we turned the corner me and Alicia turned our heads to see our mother standing by the house fence, watching us go.')
The last time I seen my parents I was 16 years old, I got so tired of seeing my mother and sister get beat so I left . I didn't want to leave my mother behind , but she refufused to leave with me.
