CHAPTER: THIRTY-FOUR

Alexis POV*****

It's been a week since I saw jaimee she hasn't been back at my place,I was back at work however she kept a clear distance from me,Christine would call me non stop asking for us to hook up again but I ignored her missing jaimee too greatly to even be able to think straight,my mind ran back to Brian wondering what happened to him,I had sleepless nights since my accident with him and I knew I wouldn't rest peacefully until I got news that he was either dead or locked away, currently I was working trying to get jaimee off my mind,I felt guilty I felt worried I wanted to fix us,I needed to talk to her but she wouldn't give me the time of the day she kept herself so busy from me it was killing me, someone cleared their throat behind me and I turned my chair not surprised to see Christine there,
"Hey" she smiled and I gave her a small smile hoping she would get the drift and just leave but she didn't,
"I've been calling" she stated coming up closer to me,
"I know, I saw, sorry things have just been hectic"I ran my hand through my hair feeling somewhat uncomfortable knowing that jaimee was in her office,
"Girlfriend issues?" She smirked and I started to feel annoyed,
" naa I'm fine,look I got some work to finish up here so talk later OK" I snapped at her turning so I no longer was facing her,I could feel her standing there staring at me then I heard her sigh then she left.

Diving into my work I didn't even realize that my shift had ended until I glanced at the time seeing that it was really late, my eyes drifted to Jamiee's office seeing her light on which indicated that she was maybe still there. Closing my computer screen I sat there wondering if I should go talk to her,I felt myself pushing away the chair and walking towards her office door only stopping briefly to knock and smiling as i heard her voice telling me to come in, stepping in she glanced up eyes widening when she saw me, closing the door behind me I went over to her office couch dropping myself in it my eyes raked over her, she looked like she hasn't slept in days her eyes had tiny bags under them,she had on a simple jeans and t shirt with the company logo attached and even though I couldn't see her footwear I'm pretty sure it was sneakers,she was still breathtakingly beautiful though and when our gaze collided my heart hammered rapidly in my chest as I saw every single ounce of feeling that she was experiencing right at this moment,
"What are you doing here?" She broke the silence her expression suddenly blank and her eyes narrowed at me,I sighed getting up to move over to her seeing her tense as I got to her desk, I stopped placing my hands on her desk I leaned forward staring directly into her eyes,
"Jaimee I miss you, can we not work this out?" I asked desperation lacing my voice,
"I miss you too Alexis, but you cheated on me!" Now I could see her eyes flaring as she got angry all over again,going around the desk I stop directly before her pushing her chair back I pulled her in my arms ignoring how stiff she felt,I turned putting her to sit on her sturdy desk and positioned myself between her legs so that our bodies were close together and our faces only inches apart,
"I fucked up, I know I did,and I'm sorry but jaimee please I need you" I told her seeing her eyes glistening with tears,
"You left me at home Alexis and with a clear conscience you went to someone else, I didn't Even know something was wrong with us or with me....." I placed my fingers on her lips shushing her,
" there is nothing wrong with you or with us" I stated and silence fell between us, after a while she spoke
" then why Alex?" She sounded so hurt and broken and I wanted nothing more than to fix us right now,
"Look I don't know jaimee I didn't intentionally go out to hurt you, it happened I'm sorry please forgive me I beg you" my voice broke a little and I could feel the tears forming in my eyes,
"I'm sorry...I'm really sorry, I don't want anyone else except you, jaimee at the hospital you told me you love me when you thought I was sleeping didn't you?" I asked seeing the blush creeping on her cheeks as she nodded, continuing I decided to just let everything out,
"Jaimee I've never felt like this for anyone before,I fucked up but I need you jaimee, I need us, I need whatever it is that we have because dammit jaimee I'm happy and I'm myself with you and I...." I paused and held my head down feeling choked up on words,
"What are you trying to say alexis?" Jaimee asked using her fingers to lift my chin so that I was looking in her eyes,hers stormy with tears,love and hurt,taking a deep breath I sighed then lowered my lips to hers kissing her softly, she tried to deepen the kiss but I pulled away needing my head to be clear for what I was about to say,its been a while since Gracie that I've even uttered these words to anyone, our gaze collided again and the lump in my throat got heavier,
" I'm saying that I love you jaimee,I need you,I need us" the tears fell from her eyes at my declaration, wrapping her arms around my waist she pulled me closer to her
"I love you too" she whispered and my heart swelled at her words, we stayed there in silence and I pulled her against me,just as I was about to say something the office door swung open and in walked Brian with a struggling Emily held by him a gun in his hands a hateful look on his face.
I grabbed alexis and quickly placed her behind me shielding her with my body my eyes darted everywhere trying to figure out what to do,
"Well well what have we here?" He sneered throwing Emily towards us I caught her and brought her in my arms worried about all of us safety with this mad man,he used his arms signaling for me to come to him,but I didn't move, I didn't want to leave jaimee or Emily out in the opening like this,
"Bitch you better come or ill just kill you all right now" he threatened waving the gun around at us three.
"Okay okay relax I'm coming,listen we can talk about this brian" I tried pleading with him but the minute I got closer to him he quickly slapped me across the cheek the force of it sending me flying towards the couch, I heard both alexis and jaimee crying together and watched as he turned towards them, I rubbed my jaw feeling pain everywhere in my face, I stood up calling his attention to me once again
"Come on, what did they do to you Brian, you want me,not them,I was the one back in high school that rejected you,are you serious man you hold a fucking grudge this long" I could feel anger seeping through me and I know it was stupid to taunt him seeing that he has the upper hand, I just wanted his attention away from jaimee or Emily,he smiled at me but still kept the gun aimed at both Emily and jaimee,
"You had the option to be with me,or reject me,you chose to reject me,I would have given u everything you bitch!!!" He yelled coming forward again this time his fist balled ready to punch me,from my left I could see jaimee moving for something I prayed that whatever she was doing she would be quick, his fist connected with my face this time when I got to the floor I could taste the blood in my mouth and feel it running from my nose, groaning in pain and frustration I tried standing only to feel him kick me square in my ribs causing my breath to hitch as the pain shot through me and I tumbled back against the couch again, he advanced on me about to attack again when I heard jaimee calling out,he spun to her and I heard him grunt as an object connected with his face throwing him backwards, the gun flew from his hands and landed to the left going off once I cringed as the bang sounded through the entire room, seeing Brian scrambling upwards to go for it I mustered as much strength as I could lunging towards him tackling him back to the floor,I clawed at his face punching kicking and biting wherever I could, hearing him yelp In pain brought me joy but my success was only short lived as he somehow managed to throw me off and got up quickly to deliver blows to my face,my stomach everywhere he could,I could feel myself slipping into unconsciousness, satisfied with how I was he left me and started moving back across the room,I was powerless to stop him,I heard strugglings then a loud bang and screams,i could barely see my vision blurry I was weak,exhausted and scared that something had happened to jaimee or emily I tried reaching out but I literally couldn't move,
"Emily" I croaked out,trying to move
"I'm here I'm here" I could hear Emily clearly,
"Jaimee?" I called out again but there was no response,squinting my eyes I could see two figures on the floor but I couldn't make out who they were,
"Jaimee" I screamed and felt soft hands pushing me back,
"Shhh relax Alexis its okay help is on the way" I was disoriented so I could hardly make out the voice, again I could hear sirens and the voice trying to calm me, again I tried using my last strength to move but I was pushed back,
"Alexis stop!" The person hissed and that was the last voice I heard before I succumbed to the darkness.
