Kazuo POV:
Its been a few hours since Y/N left us. Its been tough for both me and Akio. Especially Akio.......
Poor boy hasn't been okay since I told him the news of Y/N not coming back. He's been skipping out on dinner, and he always stayed in his room. I wish I could do something for him
I've been used to losing people. I lost mom, dad, and now...... I feel like I broke mom and dad's promise. I couldn't watch over them. This is really taking a toll on me.
Akio, who's only young, lost, yet again, another major person in his life. As a child, that's hard to handle, especially losing a sibling.
"Kazuo", my eyes shot up, looking in the hallway right next to me only to meet Akio eyes. He looked sleepy and he had bags under them. Probably from all the crying.
"Can you read me a story". He held out his book. Sighing, I got up from my seat and walked over to his room with him following after me
"Okay". I gave him a soft smile. I took the book from his hands and he got into the covers of his bed, getting comfortable.
"Once Upon a time....."
A couple of minutes has passed, and I was almost done reading the story to him. As I was close to the end, his eyes were half-lidded, almost asleep. I stopped reading and tugged the covers a little bit closer to his face.
"Wait". He spoke in a sleepy tone
"Akio...you know you have to get some sleep". I flick the light switch off
Before I left, Akio spoke, "Do you think Y/N will be okay", he looked at me, carrying a serious but depress glint in his eyes. My mouth was slightly open, a little surprised by that question. I walked back over to his spot and sat back down on the other side of his bed.
I sighed at the fact that I didn't know how to exactly phrase what I was going to say, "Honestly...I don't know....". I said, "I want to say Yes so you wouldn't worry but that would be lying to you and giving you false hope". He listened, his gaze fixated on my face
"I want her to be okay, but with a beast like him. I don't know...from what I saw, he was hostile and violent but at the same time.....it seemed like he took an interest in Y/N. Even asking her to promise to stay in the castle forever". I fiddled my thumbs around. "It's honestly, weird. He's the master of the castle so why does he need to ask of a promise like that? He brought me to that cold dungeon against my will. Couldn't he just keep her in there forever against her will even if she didn't promise?". My eyes shifted back to Akio. His eyes were widened a little bit.
"Don't get me wrong. I don't want her to stay there. Hell, I want her back". I tried to explain to him. After hearing those words come out of my mouth, it almost sounded like I wanted her to stay there which isn't true. "I just think its weird that he put me in there against my will but he asked for her to promise to stay with him"
"No. I get what you're saying. It just...It just almost sounds like this beast likes Y/N", Akio laughed a little
"You think so?", I raised an eyebrow at him, "That seems ridiculous"
"Maybe", Akio shrugged his shoulder under the covers. He then popped up from the covers and rested his back against the wall. "But that would be silly", he continued, "Or maybe he's using her to break some type of spell". He laughed even more
"Okay. That's enough reading for you. I can see that Y/N and those books really influenced you". I chuckled softly. It's good that he's cracking jokes. Just proves that he's getting better.
"I know. I know. It was only a joke", Akio laughed. "Thanks for cheering me up Kazuo. I think I'll be good for today"
"You sure?"
