Epilogue
Summer flew by so fast. It was already the middle of August, and as I sat out here in The Laverys backyard, I felt a smile find its way to my face as I looked back into my vacation. It's been fun, and all the drama between the twins and myself is now dead and gone.
I just recently became ungrounded after that fight with Lauren. Speaking of Lauren, you'd never guess who came to my house to apologize for being a bitch to me all these years. Yep, that's right. Her face was all healed up, and after we did some talking we hugged it out before she left. Ally was with me that day, and although she was still kind of tense about the whole thing, I know that we won't be having any more problems with Lauren. Thank god.
Damian, Morgan and Jordan also came to visit a few weeks ago, and Damian came out of the closet officially. I was so proud of him, and surprisingly Matt was more than fine with it. Damian and Brandon are now official, and they've actually been seeing each other alot.
Matt's still single. And I think that that boy's done with girls for now. Matt and I have decided that being friends is the best thing for us, and we should stay like that.
Right now, everyone was out. Dad, Grace, Ken, Ally, Matt and Shane were all out in the backyard, just hanging out. The dads were cooking on the barbeque, and Grace was doing some sun-bathing on the grass as she had her face buried in a magazine. I was sitting at the patio with Matt, watching Shane and Ally play ball in the pool. I smiled.
"You know," Matt said. "I'm actually glad with how everything worked out."
I grinned at him, resting my cheek on my palm. "I know, me too."
"I think I'm going to stop with all the girls," He said. "That shit's getting pretty old."
I smiled at him, and nudged him. "You'll find someone special. Don't worry."
Matt laughed, and then glanced over his shoulder at Shane, who just got hit in the face by the ball Ally threw. I had to choke back a laugh as I turned away. Suddenly Matt and I both started laughing at Shane, who looked over at us, his wet hair falling in his eyes. Ally joined in on our laughter, and Shane chuckled.
"Holly, your boyfriend's such an easy target," Ally called over, and Shane put two thumbs' up. Matt got up from the patio chair and pointed at his brother.
"Get out," Matt ordered, shooting an evil smirk over at Ally. "I got this for you."
Shane gladly jumped out of the pool, shaking the hair out of his eyes. "Oh, he's gonna get you Ally."
"Oh, I'm so scared!" Ally mocked-horror as she pretended to freak out. When Matt climbed into the pool, he suddenly picked up Ally and threw her over his shoulder, into the water. I shieled my face from the splash, and Shane came to sit on my lap.
I gasped when he shook his hair in my face. "Shane!" I laughed.
Shane wrapped his arms around my neck, and smiled down at me. My stomach flipped, and I could still feel that insane blush rising on my cheeks everytime he looked at me like that.
"Hi boyfriend," I grinned when Shane pressed his lips to mine, which were still wet from the pool.
"Hello my amazing girlfriend that tastes like....strawberries." He licked his lips as he looked at me.
"That's the gum I had earlier," I smirked, wagging my eyebrows. "Good, isn't it."
"Yeah," Shane said. "What kind is it?"
"Trident Layers."
Shane's eyes lit up. "I love that gum!"
"Same!"
"We have so much in common!"
"I know right? Lets make out!"
"Good idea!" Shane crashed his lips to mine, and suddenly I felt myself being lifted off the chair before I was placed on Shane's lap instead. I wrapped my arms around his neck as I felt his arms snake around my waist. I found myself laughing in his mouth as we playfully went at it, probably to the entertainment of everybody else.
But honestly, I love my boyfriend. I never thought I would turn into those girls who always bragged about their boyfriends, or dreamed about their boyfriends or...well...I never thought I'd have a boyfriend in the first place. But I did. And it was Shane.
"I love you," I told him, looking away so I could look into his gorgeous blue eyes. Man, I love those eyes....
"I love you too," he said, putting his hand on my cheek. "Seriously."
"GET A ROOM!" Ally and Matt yelled, startling me. I groaned as I looked over my shoulder at the two, who were in the middle of a splash fight. I couldn't help but get a small feeling about Matt and Ally, and it brought a smile to my face.
"Sorry," Shane and I shrugged, and when my eyes met my dads, he just shook his head smirking. Dad has never been more than happy about me and Shane together. He absolutely adores Shane, and I feel like everything just fit together this Summer.
I looked back at Shane, and moved his wet hair away from his face. "Thank you," I whispered.
Shane tilted his head to the side. "For what?"
"For accepting my weirdness," I smirked.
"Your weirdness is the thing I love about you the most, though!" He licked my face, and I giggled. Yeah, giggled....what has this boy done to me?
"Aw, you're sweet!" I said in a girly voice, and Shane laughed.
I snuggled more into Shane, and wrapped my arms around him as I hugged him. When Shane hugged me back tightly, I felt like he never wanted to let me go.
And I didn't want him to.
Looking around me, I couldn't help but grin. I was just so happy with how everything turned out, just like Matt said. I don't know what's going on between Ally and Jace, but looking at them together, I have a feeling about someday. Someday. And I was perfectly fine with that.
So Summer's almost over now, and looking back I kind of learned some things about feelings. Infatuation and love. Two different things. Two very different things I've found myself mixed up with this Summer. One can easily mix love with lust, and that's what I did. Matt's hot - gorgeous at that, and sure he's great at what he's good at, but do I love him? Yes, but I love him as the little annoying boy that bugged me my whole childhood. A brother. That's it, and it took me a while to figure it out, but I'm glad I did.
But I can easily say, without any hesitation or struggle, that I am completely in love with this boy right here. Shane Lavery. Being with Shane, I know I can be myself, the same self I can be with Ally. Shane may be known as the quiet, shy one nobody really pays attention to, but when he's around me, you'd never ever guess that. I'm glad I can bring out that side of Shane, and I'm glad that I make him feel happy, because he deserves that much. But I guess I would kind of like to thank Matt, because if it weren't for him, in a strange way, I wouldn't have ever found myself out.
But, since that day the twins came back from Florida, my whole life's changed in the slightest. In the best way, because someone like me....I never thought I'd actually find a guy that I loved. I've always been careless, and never caring about anything. I've always dated guys, but never lasted with them because I never found the right one. Until now.
I feel like I'm the better person I've been wanting to be. And it's all thanks to the Lavery Twins.
Both of them.
