Simon
It’s honestly been a long day. I think that I weirded out Elio today at lunch and he probably doesn't want anything to do with me. I’m not going to lose hope, though. If I can’t be with him, I can still find a way to be friends with him. I mean, I want him to be in my life no matter how.
I get a knock at my door and for some reason, I think it’s Elio. I open the door to find out that it’s just Leah, Nick, and Abby.
“Hey, what are you doing here?” I ask.
“Do we have to have a reason to come here?” Leah asks. I gesture them to come in and I close the door.
“Okay, honestly, we are here about that new kid situation.” Nick says. I roll my eyes. I should’ve known that they wanted to talk about Elio.
“There’s nothing to really talk about.” I say.
“Oh but there is.” he says. “Because I invited him over.”
My eyes grew wide. Did he say what I think he said? He invited Elio, the guy I like, over my house?
“What do you mean?” I ask.
“We decided to make the new kid, Elio-” he starts.
“I know his name.” I cut him off.
“I know.” Nick says. “We wanted to show him around the neighborhood. So what better place to show him than your place?”
I feel like punching that smile off his face. “You invited him over today. He’s coming now?”
Nick shows an expression I really can’t read. I hope it’s regret because that’s how he should feel. “He’s coming in five minutes.”
Leah walks up to me. “Hey. He might not come. When we asked him, he kinda hesitated before answering.”
“I honestly don’t think that makes things better.” I say.
“We’re so sorry, Simon.” Abby says, walking up to me to give me a hug.
“It’s fine. I was gonna have to meet him at some point.” I say.
I hear a knock at the door and I start to freak out.
“It’s going to be okay.” Abby says. Nick walks over to open the door. When the door opens, I see him. He even looks better up close.
“Hi, Elio!” Abby says, energetically. She is waving rapidly.
“Hello. Abby, am I correct?” he asks. His voice is honestly so amazing, I play it back in my head like a song. Abby nods to confirm his guess.
“Remember me?” Nick asks, pointing to himself.
“Yes. I do.” Elio answers. His eyes look towards me. I start to blush. I can’t help it.
“Hey, you are the boy that was staring at me at lunch, the other day.” he points out.
I really wished that he didn’t remember that. “Yeah, I am. Sorry about that.”
“It’s fine. I just thought that was weird.” he says. He smiles at me and I start to melt a little inside.
“Let’s do something!” Abby says.
“Like what?” Leah says.
“I don’t know. Anything other than just standing here doing nothing.” she answers.
