Chapter 9: Emotions 101

Naruto's POV:

Naruto and Fuu followed Shikamaru and Ino through the streets of Konoha towards the gates with Sakura following up the rear. Naruto and Fuu both had their hoods over their heads and were trying to stay unnoticed. Unfortunately, that was not much of an option, as Kakashi-sensei and Akuma-sensei both stopped them in the streets to talk. However, in both instances, they were able to excuse themselves and keep going before someone noticed anything off.

Now they were outside the village walls and running full speed. Naruto sped up and started running next to Shikamaru.

"Hey, where exactly are you taking us?" He asked.

"Somewhere isolated and out of the way. No one will find you there, I guarantee that." Shikamaru replied. Naruto nodded and fell back so that he was running beside Fuu.

"How much longer?" Fuu asked. Naruto shrugged.

"We'll get there when we get there. Nothing else we can do."

Naruto and Fuu were exploring what was going to be their home for the next several months. It was a two story house with a wall surrounding it. The house was themed in the ancient style, and it wasn't in the best condition. Naruto nodded before making a familiar sign.

"Shadow-clone jutsu!"

Ten shadow clones now stood in the room with Naruto. He quickly gave them various instructions about repairs to be made to the house and sent them off. Then he turned to Fuu.

"I don't know about you, but I'm beat. I've been a nervous wreck all day and I need to sleep it off. If you need me, I'll be in one of the bedrooms upstairs taking a nap as soon as the shadow clones finish fixing it up."

Fuu nodded and watched as Naruto left the room they were in and went up the stairs. She turned and went into the living room, sitting on the couch before closing her eyes and falling asleep as well. Naruto was right. It had been a stressful day, between meeting all these new people, and trying to find a safe place to stay while keeping watch for possible threats. She really needed a nap.

Fuu's POV:

Fuu woke up about five hours later. She went upstairs and found that while she had been asleep, the shadow clones that Naruto had ordered to fix the house had been through the whole second floor and had fixed everything up. Fuu gazed in wonder at the refinished walls that now looked brand new; at the floors that looked freshly repolished. Fuu was impressed to say the least. She went to the first bedroom and cracked open the door to peek in. She saw Shikamaru sleeping on the bed, his bag and other equipment in the corner next to it.

"Not this one." Fuu said to herself. She closed the door and went to the bedroom opposite of the first one. She peeked inside to see a pair of backpacks, though there was nobody in there with them. Fuu quietly closed the door and moved further down the hallway until she reached the last bedroom. She quietly opened the door to see Naruto still asleep on the bed. Fuu smiled at his sprawled out figure taking over the entire bed. She slipped into the room and walked up beside the bed. She leaned down and gave Naruto a kiss on the forehead. She then looked around at the room. She assumed that they would both sleep together like they had the past several weeks, and found that she was right when she discovered that her pack was on one side of the bed and his was on the other. She would've joined him, but she didn't feel sleepy anymore, so she slipped back out of the room and quietly closed the door.
