Chapter 12: True Reasons

First, I want to take a moment to thank all of you for showing your support for this book. It's not the most popular yet, but every read adds up, and I want to especially thank those of you who voted or commented on my story, it means so much to see people respond to your writing. Ok, enough rambling from me, let's get on to the good stuff.

Actually, hang on, OMG!!! Not this one, but one of my other novels just hit 5k reads, AHHHH!!!! And another one finally hit 1k, AHHH!!!!

OK... I think it's all out of my system now. Sorry, I looked at my fanfics this morning when I checked Wattpad to see this... so of course I had to say something. And once again, thank you everyone, thank you all so much. OK, now definitely back to the story. Enjoy!

Naruto's POV:

Naruto took a deep breath and began speaking. "There is a reason why you are all here safe-guarding me and Fuu, and it isn't just because I didn't know enough to look after her while she was pregnant."

Tenten interjected, "Then what is your reason for seeking protection?" she asked.

"As you no doubt recall, you all helped me escape three years ago. You gave me the chance to not spend the rest of my life in a cell rotting away simply because of the power that I couldn't control. In doing so, it put me out there and made me a priority target for not only Konoha's ANBU, but for the ANBU of every other ninja village as well."

"And you wanted protection from that?" Neji asked.

Naruto shook his head. "No. That isn't the exactly reason I sought Tsunade out, although it is something that I knew I wanted protection for her for. You know how the village looked at me don't you? They hated and despised me simply because I held the nine-tails, something I not only didn't know about, but also couldn't control. When I fled, I was escaping that. However..." Naruto sighed before continuing. "However before I met Fuu and was brought before the Takigure leader, he kindly offered me a place as one of his ninja. Foolishly I thought that maybe if I tried I could come to like this place that I was being offered as my home. However, I found that my life became much similar to Fuu's in terms of how people treated me in only a few short weeks after my arrival, though I was fortunate enough to have her in my life by that point.

<Flashback>

"Get lost Demons!" Yelled a man. He was one of several who had been chasing Naruto and Fuu through the village for the past few minutes.

"We just wanted to buy some ramen. Is that so horrible?" Naruto yelled behind him as he dodged a shuriken that one of them sent flying at him.

Fuu tugged on Naruto's arm and pulled him down an alley. "Come on Naruto. We'll lose them in the alley." She pulled him into the alley and they raced down it, coming to the fence at the back that they easily leapt over. Naruto and Fuu heard the angry shouts of the villagers as they saw them leap over the fence and disappear from sight.

Naruto and Fuu kept running until they were back at their house. Once inside, they both collapsed on the couch in exhaustion.

"Man. it gets worse every time we go out." Naruto said.

Fuu nodded sadly. "I'm sorry I pulled you into this Naruto. I should've let you be, then you might've been at least a little better off." Fuu put her face in her hands. Naruto rubbed her back with a hand, comforting her.

"Hey, it's ok Fuu. I knew what I was getting into. Don't worry, we'll make it somehow."

Fuu looked at Naruto's optimistic face. "Do you really think so?"
