"How?" I whispered as we sat at an all night cafe.
"I don't know his full origin story. Most of the documents on that file are blacked out. Unreadable. So top secret that most of the DEO agents aren't allowed to read them." Clark said.
"Wait what is the DEO?" I asked and took a bite out of my salmon sandwitch.
"The department of extranormal operations." Clark said. "My cousin works with them."
"Your cousin?"
"Sup- I mean Kara." Clark said: "Turns out I have a biological cousin."
"So have you found your parents through her?" I asked hopefully.
"They're dead."
"Oh I'm so sorry." I said and took Clark's hand.
"We got sidetracked." Clark mumbled and shook his head.
"Yeah so Bruce is bats... And tire." I said and shook my head with the information crowding my brain.
"Tire?"
"Yeah I realized on the way here. I know Bruce. From when I was little and he was a teenager. He called me lollipop and I called him tire because he used to drive really fast. We didn't get along at all. He was friends with a relative of mine and I spent a summer at the Wayne manor. We never really bonded. We were more like enemies than friends for those 2 months." I giggled: "I must have forgot that. It was no big deal really."
"You've known him from childhood?" Clark pondered.
"Yeah, but how can he be Batman?" I asked and scratched my head.
"He has the money and the recources." Clark shrugged.
"Well yeah I guess so. I don't really know him but I wouldn't take him for a superhero." I shook my head.
"He isn't a superhero. He is a vigilante! Not the same. A superhero works in justice. A superhero obeys the law. A viligante works outside of law uncaring of it. A vigilante brings their own justice even if law says it's wrong. They hurt and kill uncaring of the concequenses. They kill to better their own life and they do anyhing to not get caught." Clark ranted with a strict look.
"Okay okay, but isn't superman outside of law too?" I asked with a raised brow.
"Superman saves people. He usually doesn't chase bad guys and if he does... He doesn't kill them." Clark said softly.
"I guess you are right... But you can't say that Batman hasn't made a difference at Gotham." I said and asked for the bill once I took the last bite of the sandwitch.
Clark humphed and once we payed we left the restaurant and I drove Clark home. The next day magazines were telling about my family. They speculated all odd things and called me a bad family member for not being with my brother now. It's been a year. I stayed with him for the first 11 months and he didn't even need me. After returning from the island he was back in his old ways in less than a week.
I chose to not adress the situation and just let the scoop die out.
That day I went shopping and had a small crowd of giggling girls after me untill I left the mall at six.
I was sitting on my couch in kitten pattern shorts and a huge light pink hoodie, watching a movie while shoving popcorn down my throat when I heard a knock on my window.
I walked over and opened the balcony door to let Superman here. I wasn't surprised about seeing him anymore. With all the accidents I had gotten into and all the pop up visits he did, his company seemed normal.
"Hi." I said as I let him in.
"Hello. I think you should know that the reporters finally found your house. They are all down on street level with cameras."
"Yeah well surprise, surprise." I said feeling annoyed and rolled my eyes. "They were bound to find out eventually." I sighed.
"Are you okay?"
"Yeah just... On the verge of a nervous breakdown from all the stress." I said and shook my head. "I just wish I could be like everyone else. Even for an hour."
"Well let me help you figure these things out." Superman suggested. "Let's start with something moderately easy."
"Okay... How about these wedding gifts?" I suggested and opened the door to the guest bedroom giving Superman a peek of how many gifts were nestled there. "More keeps coming everyday but it's slowing down."
"Okay well what do you want to do with them?"
"I was thinking of returning them but I can't even do that with most of them. Soo... Charity?" I asked with a shrug.
"And you don't want to keep them?" Superman asked.
"I don't think I can. What would I do with all of these?" I asked.
"I have no idea." Superman said and shook hus head.
"Okay so those we can return we will. Clothes some to goodwill, some to homeless shelters and some to Unicef clothing charity." I said. "Now all we have to do is unwrap everything and put them in piles accordingly to what they are."
"I could just use my x-ray vision."
"You are seriously a savior." I sighed contently and started making piles of the gifts accordingly to what Superman said was in them.
It took us a few hours and sometimes Superman had to go save someone. Soon he also helped me in delivering the packets. Most would think that it's wrong to give away gifts but we were giving away what we didn't need to people who do need these things.
Superman took me to our spot again. The place where he said he would propose if he ever wanted to.
The sun was setting in beautiful colors that looked like the sky was on fire. I turned to look at Superman and saw him looking at me and leaning forwards...
Closer and closer until we were inches apart.
Aaaaand them I hit him in the face with my fist.
