I heard screaming that echoed through the night... I was making that goat scream like sound.
"It hurts!" I screamed holding the hand I had punched Superman with and now thought it might be broken. I was in pain but he hadn't even flinched.
"I am so sorry." Superman said flying away and coming back in a few seconds to press a bag of frozen peas onto my hand.
"I'm in so much pain." I cried after wincing at the cold. "I feel like it could be broken."
"It hurts that much?"
"Yes! You are like made out of steel or something!" I said rising my voice and instantly feeling bad because this was Superman I was yelling at. He didn't want to hurt anyone and this wasn't his fault.
"There aren't any fractures." He said after looking at my hand intently for a minute. "It will bruise though." He warned me and helped me to sit down once again after giving me pain killers and some water he hat fetched with the frozen peas.
"Why did you punch me?" Superman asked after I calmed down.
"You were trying to kiss me." I said and let out a small sob. "It was an instant reaction."
"I... I thought that's what this was going towards." Superman said awkwardly and shifted a little closer to me.
"I... I... I don't think so."
"Look at me." Superman ordered and I turned towards him. "So you don't have any feelings towards me?"
"Well I wouldn't say that I don't have any feelings just... I'm confused." I said and looked at the ground.
"Well let me make you unconfused." Superman leaned towards me again but I pressed my hand against his chest. He didn't even realize I was trying to stop him until we were inches apart once more and I told him loudly to stop.
"Why?" He asked softly. "Just tell me a reason and I won't try again."
"I want to kiss someone else more..." I mumbled and looked away ashamed. "I care about you and I don't want you to think that I'm just using you... I think we could be great friends but, we can't let the world think we are married for very long. It's getting tiring."
I watched as his eyes turned from beautiful blue into dull, dead grey and his whole face went white. I saw his heart break. "I... Yes. You are right." Superman nodded. I didn't see him crumble up a paper and throw it away.
"I'm sorry." I whispered and Superman just let me lean against him as we watched the scenery.
"Who is he?" He dared to ask as he was flying me home.
"A friend... I think. We haven't known each other for very long."
"Do you have a place to go? I don't believe it to be a good idea for you to go to your apartment while the paprazzi are crowding it." Superman asked.
"Yeah I think a friend of mine wouldn't mind it if I went over." I said and bit my lip wondering if Clark would mind that I show up in the middle of the night.
Superman flew me over to Clark's house and left me with a farewell: "I wish you everything well." He nodded.
"You too." I whispered even though he was already gone but I was sure he heard me.
Why did this feel like a goodbye?
I went therough the restaurant and climbed up the stairs and knocked on Clark's door softly.
He opened the door with a fond smile and let me in.
"How was your day?" He asked with an almost sad tone.
"Confusing... Painful." I said softly and looked at my hands before lifting my gaze to Clark.
I lifted my gaze up to Clark's blue eyes and felt my sight smudge. "Hey, hey what's wrong?" Clark asked and briskly walked over to me as I felt a tear roll down my cheek. Clark took my face into his palms and whiped a tear off with his thumb.
"I think I might have hurt him." I sobbed.
Clark was quick to act. He held me untill I stopped sobbing, let me put his big shirt on again, whiped off the bit of makeup I had and made sure I was comfortable as he lay me onto his bed and climbed in next to me.
That night I told Clark everything about the fake marriage. He took it calmly. Like a true reporter. I barely slept.
Monday I felt awful even with the hot cocoa Clark had made me... Even though Clark told me my 'husband' had dropped a bag of my clothes at his apartment. And even though I saw a cute cat on the way to work with Clark.
"Why did you punch in the face?" Ron asked as he sad my black and blue fist.
"Superman." I just said and went to work still sad about what happened yesterday. I felt like the worst person in the world. I broke Superman's heart to protect mine. So that I could have the slightest chanse of true love with the one I had fallen head over heels in love with.
The next day there was a short story about my black and blue hand on almost all newspapers in Metropolis.
A week went by and I didn't see Superman. Not even once. I didn't get a chanse to apologise. During that week Clark was able to lift up my spirits and bring color to my cheeks again. I felt like myself again. And I loved him even more every second.
I soon returned to my own apartment happily as the media storm surrounding me calmed into a small fresh wind.
Untill I saw the headline: "Metropolis court secretly legalized the marriage certificate of Superman and Fay Queen over a week ago. Tobias Richmond intervenes: 'An alien and a human can not be allowed to be bethrowed in holy matrimony.'"

Sooo Fay and Superman are LEGALLY married now which means trouble with a real divorce etc...
