I watched as Chloe moved around the ball room with my sister. She was busy interacting with whoever my sister introduced her to, wearing her smile all the time. I watched her dance with one of my Dad's business partners, Alec. The way Alec held her waist made my blood boil. She swayed her hips according to the beats of the song. Occasionally, she turned to me and winked. I tried signaling her to come over, but she completely ignored my existence. She seemed to be extra cozy with Alec.

"Enjoying the party dearest brother?"

"Leave me alone Jessica"

"Why would I do that? I just got here Jay"

"What do you want?"

"I want to hang out with you. Is that a crime?"

"I guess it’s not."

"Would you look at that? Alec and Chloe seem to be extra comfy with each other, don't you think?"

"Yeah, whatever"

"I think it’s a perfect match. They really fit each other, like a jigsaw puzzle"

"I guess they do" I pretended that did not pull my anger trigger

"I totally sail that ship, though I can't come up with a perfect ship name"

"You will in a matter of time"

"You know, I think they will get married and have beautiful kids" that did the trick. The arrow fast forwarded to the angry bar before I could control it

"Would you shut it and stop talking about them together? He is too old for her for fucksake"

"Why should I stop?"

"Because....... I don't know. I just don't want to hear it"

"Still not ready to admit that you like Chloe?"

"I don't like her."

"Oh you do dear brother. You really do"

"I never did and never will I like someone like her."

"Never say never Joel Williams, never say never." My sister smirked as she got off her chair.

"Hello sweetheart" mom kissed my left cheek

"Hey mom. Awesome ball."

"I know sweetheart. You know we only settle for the best"

"Made any business deals?"

"A lot of them. But I didn't come here to talk about that."

"Oh, what wrong mom?"

"You tell me, what's wrong?"

“Nothing is wrong mom."

"Why are you not enjoying the party then?"

"It’s nothing mom, I just miss Kaylin" I lied to her face.

"You sure you are telling me the truth?"

"Am positive"

"Then why do you have 'that eye' on Chloe?"

"What?"

"I know you heard me. Why are you looking at Chloe like that if you really are thinking about Kaylin?"

"Mom..... I don't know. I can't figure out what to do"

"You will figure it out. Sort out your feelings. I know you'll make the right choice"

"Ma, I love Kaylin"

"You sure? Cause if you did, then you wouldn't be looking at Chloe like that sweetheart. Give yourself time. You might find out that you like Chloe and not Kaylin, which is a good thing. Mind you, I don't have anything against Kaylin. Give yourself time, you'll figure it out, though I know you like Chloe"

"Geez ma never did and never will I like Chloe. I love Kaylin." I said to her, more like trying to convince myself

"Never say never sweetheart, never say never." Mom kissed me and walked away as Dad had signaled her to go where he was. Jessica said the said thing, now mom said that too.
