Chapter 14

Joel Williams

I had drifted off to sleep after my usual session with one loud brunette, when my phone rung. I answered without checking

“Hey Joel, I hope I didn’t disturb you”

“No Chloe, you didn’t. I was asleep. What’s up love?”

“I was calling to check on Jess, how was the operation?”

“It was a success. She is home now. The doctors will come in sometime in the day.”

“Alright, that’s great. If I was to come right now, would that be an inconvenience to you?”

“Since when have you become an inconvenience? And what do you mean if you are to come right now? Aren’t you on the other side of the planet?” she chuckled at my response

“Hang in there tiger, see you in twenty.” She hang up before I could utter another word.

She surely has lost her mind, cause am sure as hell that Australia is more than twenty minutes away, yet she says she will be here in twenty? She is really crazy. I dragged myself to my closet to dress up.

“Hey sleepy head”

“Jess, hey. When did you get here and what are you doing out of bed? Aren’t you supposed to be resting?”

“I am bored. I just wanted to hang out with you. What’s up?”

“Nothing really. As about to go and hang out by the pool” I said as I pulled out my swim shorts, “oh by the way, your friend called. She says she will be here in twenty”

“Chloe? How can she make it that fast? It’s not like she is a magician or something. She was just goofing around.”

“That’s exactly what thought. Enough of her. Let’s go out.”

We linked our arms and went out to the pool. We talked about many things. What dominated the conversation is how we could expand our parents’ empire. I must admit, Jess has a lot of awesome ideas. Am planning on making her the head of our Australian division. But not now, the division is still on planning phase.

“Let’s head in. I feel hungry and am really craving some pizza” Jess said as she emerged from the waters

“Alright. Let’s go order some pizza then” I pulled her out of the water, Robin handed her a towel. We went inside and ordered the pizza.

“Nina, two glasses of pure fruit juice please,” I called out as Nina walked by.

“Right away sir. Anything else?”

“No. just the two glasses of juice” I answered back and she nodded her head and left.

“I know you are an asshole, but stingy too? What is wrong with your head Joel Xander Williams?” a voice said behind us

“Chloe?” Jess and I said in unison, surprised at the unexpected guest.

“The one and only. Why do y’all look surprised to see me?”

“How did you get here?” I asked her

“When did you arrive in California? And why didn’t you tell us you are here?” Jess enquired

“I got here by car, duh” she had a playful smile as she gave me that reply, “I arrived in Cali the same day you did. And I remember calling this asshole that am coming. Didn’t he tell you?”

“He did, I just didn’t believe it. Am glad you are here though. Welcome home bestie.”

“Thank you, love. What are you guys up to right now?”
