It was nights like this where Jeremy wished he could be at home dealing with homework or trying to defeat a difficult level in Zelda, but life loves to constantly throw him curveballs. This one wasn't something big or bad, it was just... a major... annoyance...
"Beware! I am the Box Ghost!" The ghost he was "fighting" gestured to the boxes surrounding the warehouse they were in. "I have power over all containers cardboard and square."
"Okay, can we get this over with? I've got a test to study for." Jeremy deadpanned, floating in his ghost form.
"Study? There will be no time to study--" His hands began to glow green and he raised boxes into the air.
"--When you find yourself crushed beneath the forgotten possessions of..." He read off the shipping label.
"Elliot Kravitz of Arlington Heights, Illinois!" The Box Ghost turned to Jeremy, his eyes and the floating boxes glowing green, and sent the boxes and their contents flying at him. Jeremy turned intangible and the contents hit the wall behind him. Jeremy groaned.
"I don't have fucking time for this! Hey Michael, get over here!" Suddenly, Michael and (Y/N) kicked down the door and jumped into the room, Michael carrying the Specter Thermos and (Y/N) a biology textbook.
"Good night everybody! You have been a wonderful crowd tonight!" Michael took off the cap and activated the thermos. Jeremy grabbed the Box Ghost and threw him into the beam of the thermos. Said ghost screamed and sucked in, the beam of light disappearing. Michael capped it with a smirk.
"Perimeter secure." (Y/N) snorted and elbowed him.
"Perimeter secure? What are you, fucking Solid Snake?" She teased only for him to smile back and push her playfully.
"Snakes: they are amphibians that have no arms, right?" Jeremy spoke, landing next to Michael. (Y/N) sighed.
"Wrong. Snakes are reptiles. You would think being friends with me would make you more equipped with knowledge of animals, especially since I have a snake." She closed the book.
"Calculating your score together, that's zero out of twenty-one." Michael took the book and put it under his arm, spinning thermos on his finger.
"I'm no teacher, but I'm guessing that's a failing grade. Like, past an F. Maybe a Z?" Jeremy groaned and flew between them.
"Come on, you guys. If you're gonna be superhero sidekicks, you're gonna have to be a little more fucking focused. (Y/N), you're supposed to be helping me study for the test tomorrow. And Michael, you're supposed to be helping me catch these ghosts so I have time fucking to study!" He huffed.
"May I remind you that you were the one who took us away from our date to do all of this? I could have been eating spaghetti and watching The Incredibles with Michael in his basement. This is us doing YOU a favor, not you bossing us around." (Y/N) spoke, crossing her arms.
"Well, if you guys did a better job, then maybe you could be on your date..." Jeremy turned away with a pout. (Y/N) took a breath to calm herself down
"Can you just, you know, give us a break? You can't bite the hand that's feeding you... We just want some time to ourselves." In all honesty, Jeremy had been using ghost fighting as an excuse for keeping them from their dates. He didn't like the idea of his two best friends being alone together, especially knowing how much of a pervert Michael is and how innocent (Y/N) is.
"...Michael, stop spinning the thermos. You're making me anxious..." Jeremy changed the subject, turning and blushing.
"What? They're all right here. I'm not gonna drop it-- SHIT!!" The thermos fell off of Michael's finger and said idiot dove for it. Sadly, it was too late. It hit the ground and the word "RELEASE" appeared on its side screen. The cap burst off to release multiple ghosts in business suits, who phased out of the building. The Box Ghost also was released and flew into the air.
