Steven rushed to a secret place at Birch Tree. This secret place was truly a secret. It was Steven's father's laboratory. Before Steven's father was crushed, Mr.Webington had loved inventing new things and fixing things that spiders or humans didn't care about anymore or had forgotten. Scott Webington (Steven's father), had shown Steven his laboratory when Steven was very young. Steven remembered that day like it was yesterday.
Steven had had a strong relationship with Scott. They had no secrets. Steven told Scott everything, even if it got Steven in trouble. Scott always tucked Steven into bed and gave Steven a kiss good night. But Steven had started noticing that Scott seemed to want to get out of Steven's room quicker and quicker every night. So one night Steven decided that after Scott was gone he would follow him. A couple of times Scott turned around and Steven had to hide behind a corner. Scott finally stopped at the hallway closet. Steven was confused. Why would his father rush out of his room every night just to go to a closet? Then Scott opened the closet. The closet was small. It had five wood shelves containing junk from the past years. Junk that no one wanted to keep but no one wanted to throw away either. On one shelf there was a box like thing that Steven had never seen. On this box there was a keypad. Scott tapped in a few numbers and the box opened in a puff of smoke. Scott crawled through and Steven hesitantly followed. After a few feet there was a large room full of tools and machines and human items. "Wow." Steven said under his breath. Scott walked over to a table with what looked like broken human earbuds. Scott appeared to be fixing the earbuds. While Steven was taking it all in, he sneezed and quick as he could crawl Steven rushed to the tunnel that led to the closet and rushed back to bed. Soon after Steven was in bed Scott looked in and said "I could've sworn I heard a sneeze. Ah well must be loosing it." Then Scott walked out. The next day Steven told Scott everything and Scott let Steven go in any time he wished.
So Steven went to Scott's laboratory to fix Lilly's ring. Steven rushed to find all the tools he needed to make the ring new again. Scott had taught Steven how to fix a human object. Not just that, but also how to fill in the cracks. Filling the cracks was a secret that Scott's father had taught him. To fill in the cracks first you must find or make a paint that matches the objects color. In this case Steven needed gold paint. Steven went to Scott's paint shelf and found a can of gold paint. Steven quickly but carefully painted and fixed Lilly's ring.
Steven was up all night fixing the ring. As the sun started to rise the next day, Steven rushed up the side of Lilly's house and crawled back into his bed. Steven decided to tell Lilly what he had done. Steven just hoped Lilly wouldn't be mad...
