||An encounter not in the cards!||

"Have you heard anything from, Avidaan, yet?" Cabir inquired Manik when they were stuck in a traffic jam at a signal really close to the airport. Both of them had to strictly go and pick up their cousin and his fiance in accordance with the order issued by Manik's dad so their were on their way to the airport.

"Yep. They must have landed and surely would be at the customs. We'll reach before they come out." Manik replied to him. Avidaan had called him as he and his fiance took the flight from Munich to Mumbai early in the morning and he knew by now they must've landed.

"Okay." Cabir muttered and Manik started the engine of the car as the signal turned green.

----

"Why is he alone?" Cabir mumbled, smiling along, to Manik as they saw Avidaan pushing the trolley of his luggage and hearing towards them.

"I have no idea, bro." Manik said passing the smile to their approaching cousin.

"Hey, guys." Avidaan greeted as he reached near them and hugged both of them one after the other. The brothers looked happy on meeting reach other after years.

"How are you and why are you all alone?" Manik asked Avidaan as they pulled apart. Avidaan looked back at the exit for a moment and then back to them.

"I'm good and definitely not alone. Madam asked me to wait outside by the time she comes from the washroom." Avidaan told the guys and the two smiled. As they continued to talk, Manik and Cabir noticed a girl approaching them, not looking up and instead looking into her side bag for something.

Manik did not take long to recognise her neither did Cabir. Cabir was looking at her with wide opened mouth after having to get to see his once bestfriend after eight years, though changed completely but yet she did not loose her beautiful face-cut. Manik was dumbstruck at the sight, because it was difficult to understand that she was the same girl who was with him eight years back in a school uniform, messy braids done and the one who always had her spectacles on. Such a nerd she was.

Avidaan was puzzled for a moment on gauging his cousins' expressions and thus decided to turn around and learn about to source just to find Nandini walking towards them dived into her handbag. He shook his head in disbelief and strided towards her to catch hold of her that made her look up and around her as well.

"What he hell were you looking into that? You could've tripped there if I hadn't held you, bonehead." Avidaan scolded Nandini at which she made a face and then looked aside to look at the people Avidaan was standing with just to be on for the biggest surprise of her life.

There they stood before her with all the memories that she had when she lived in the same city almost eight years ago. One was her once bestfriend and the other was someone with who she had everything till the time she was here.

As the trio exchanged the shocked glances, the one who was the most confused was Avidaan. He kept looking back and forth at Nandini and his cousins to understand what was happening but then he couldn't so he decided to voice it out.

"What's wrong, guys?" he asked that in general to the three of them who seemed to have snapped out of their past.

"Ahem..... Nothing." Nandini replied nonchalantly, pushing the hairs that fell on her forehead behind her ears. Avidaan caught that moment and it did not take long for him to get that something was wierd because Nandini's pushed her hairs behind only in nervousness.

"Okay then. Guys meet her, Nandini Murthy, my fiance. And Nandini meet by cousins Cabir Dhawan and Manik Malhotra." he introduced them ducking the absurd atmosphere for a while.

"We kind of know her, already." Cabir was the first one to speak after that. Avidaan looked at Nandini who immediately averted her gaze.

"Huh? What?" Avidaan asked back still looking at Nandini. All the while, Manik couldn't take his eyes over Nandini which obviously Nandini did not miss. She pretended to not know. Ofcourse, Nandini wasn't good at dealing with exes which coincidently happens to be that Manik was the only ex of the history of relationships in her lifetime.

"We went to school and high school together and we were together as a group for over twelve years." Cabir replied and now it was Avidaan's turn to be taken aback. This news was brand new and unexpected. He knew that Nandini, when in India had a good bunch of friends, one of the reason behind her depression of leaving Mumbai at the time he has met her. All the while he was with her and neither of them could comprehend the past connection that they had.

Indeed the world is a small place.

"Okay. That's a news now." Avidaan commented. Nandini muttered a faint 'yeah' at that and leaned forward to hug Cabir.

Cabir readily responded to that hug and tried to convey how much he had missed after she went missing overnight, nine years back. Nandini felt it and shut her eyes tight to not cry and embarrass herself. She was happy at one side that the first people she met after returning back to her homeland were her same old friends and at the other hand it was an awkward situation to face Manik considering the fact that their relationship had ended with no closure to either of them.

Nandini used to be Manik's love of his life and after her nobody had come that close to her and that made it difficult for him to react to this situation.

He finally gets to meet her but as his cousin's would-be.

'Could this get any more wonderful?' he thought to himself.

The next four months are going to be the longest ones for him, he thought looking at Nandini enclosed in Cabir's embrace all ready to tear apart and advance towards him.
