A few moons pass. During this time, Cloudkit did as she said, and hung around with Spottedleaf. Now they are 4 moons old and new arrivals came to the nursery.

The sun shone through the brambles of the nursery, warming Cloudkit's pelt. She awoke with a thud. She realized she bumped her head against her sisters paws. "Hey!" Stormkit hissed. "Sorry!" Cloudkit apologized. "It's okay." Stormkit responded. "Let's ask Grayspots if we can go outside!" Stormkit suggested. "I don't know about you, but after three, harsh moons of leafbare, I could use the warmth!" She added.

After Grayspots agreed, they went out. They were the oldest kits in the nursery now. For that reason, Cloudkit felt pride. Her and her sister were almost apprentices! "Let's go out into the forest!" Stormkit broke her thoughts. "Wait... WHAT??" Cloudkit gasped. Did she say to go OUT INTO THE FOREST? Are you mouse brained??? "Of course not!" Cloudkit growled. "One it's dangerous, two WE CAN GET IN SO MUCH TROUBLE!" Cloudkit rambled.

"The edge of the ravine?" Stormkit said. "Please!!" She pleaded. "I don't know..." Cloudkit trailed off. "Fine! I'll go without you." Stormkit meowed. Then she bounded off. "No wait! I'm coming!" Cloudkit rushed after her. Once they made it to the ravine, Cloudkit asked "And how do you think we will be able to climb that?! We should go back!" "Like this!" Stormkit pounced on the first rock. Then the other, until she reached the top. "Come on  Cloudkit!" Stormkit bounced. "It's not hard!" Cloudkit stared at the ravine. It was so high. She was scared. "It's sooo high up..." Cloudkit shivered. "If you're to scared then-." "No!" Cloudkit cut off her sister. "I can do it." She made one big leap and landed on the first rock. Then the other. Finally, the last one. She was confident she could do it, and jumped too soon.

She slipped off the rock and landed on her back into the previous one. "Oof" she cried. "Try again." Stormkit suggested. "You jumped to early. You're not seriously injured are you?" "No. Just a bit stiff." Cloudkit mewed. She stretched out the stiffness, and jumped on point. "You did it sis!!" Stormkit grinned. "Yeah yeah. So we're at the ravine. What now?" Cloudkit asked.

Stormkit smirked and then said "This!" She stepped into the grass of the forest. "NO not THAT!" Cloudkit hissed. She was to late. Stormkit was out of sight. "Stormkit!!" Cloudkit yowled. She ran out into the woods and looked for Stormkit. There she was! She sneaking towards something. A big red bushy tail was in the distance. Stormkit was getting too close, but she didn't want to call out her name and startle the red creature. She then recognized it as fox! She sneaked close to her sister but when she did, Stormkit was already running away. The fox then leaped out of the tall grass.

It's huge paws were pounding the ground. Shaking the earth. Oh no! Stormkit!! She ran as fast as she could. The jaws of this animal were huge!! She ran and ran. Then she made a sharp turn and hid in some mud. She rolled around in it and pretended to be dead. Then she heard a high pitched wail. She peeked out of the bushes slightly, to see that Stormkit was cornered by the fox. She was trying to climb up a tree but kept falling. Oh no!

Without thinking, Cloudkit bounded up to her sister so fast. Stormkit started to climb the tree when the fox jumped up and snatched her tail with its jaws. Blood glistened from her tail to the ground. It poured faster and faster. Stormkit clawed herself up. Her face scrunched up in utter pain. She grunted with every movement. Cloudkit wailed and ran to the camp. Before she entered she yelled to Stormkit, "Stay in the tree I'm going to get help!" Cloudkit ran as fast as she could.

Down the ravine she tumbled, and stumbled upon Spottedleaf. "Cloudkit dear are you okay?" She asked "STORMKIT!! SHE NEEDS OUR HELP!! SHES INJURED!" Cried Cloudkit. "What!" Grayspots ran up to them and asked "Where is she?!" "Follow me! And bring more warriors to fight it off!! I'll collect some cobwebs to stop the bleeding!" Cloudkit rambled as she grabbed some cobwebs and ordered Spottedleaf to pack some medicines as she led her mother, father, two other warriors and Spottedleaf up the ravine to Stormkit.

When they reached her, the fox had vanished. And she was on the ground. Blood still pouring out of her wound. Cloudkit ran up to her sister and cried. She felt her chest rising and falling. "She's still alive! The fox didn't kill her!" She started to wrap the cobwebs around her tail wound. "I'll take it from here." Spottedleaf whispered. Cloudkit stepped back and looked down at her paws and sobbed. "What happened?!" Grayspots asked. Her expression was a mix of anger, shock and sadness. Cloudkit turned to her mother and said "We went outside and Stormkit wanted to go into the forest..." she explained. "I tried to stop her but.... she ran from me..." she finished off, then collapsed on the ground in a sob.

"I know you're upset and I am too. But I'm going to have to discipline you. No more going outside until your an apprentice." Grayspots said sympathetically. "What about Stormkit?" Cloudkit asked. Her mother looked at the ground. "I'm sorry dear. I don't know if she'll make it or not. I'm not a medicine cat and her wound can get infected very easily. She's only a kit..." she trailed off. A tear streamed down her face. She touched noses with Cloudkit then padded over to where the others were with Stormkit.

Stormkit, please don't leave. We need you. I need you, you're my best friend. She thought. Barkface padded up to his daughter and touched his nose to her head. "Go back to camp. It's not safe." He meowed. "I-.." she argued but then agreed. "Okay.."

Later that night Stormkit woke up. Cloudkit ran to the medicine den and asked her what happened. "The fox was trying to climb up the tree but then heard you coming and ran off. He left my tail on the ground. At first I was relieved. But then the pain rushed back in a huge wave and the blood  pored rapidly until I passed out..." she said. "It still hurts." She explained. "It's getting late and you need rest. You had a hard day." Spottedleaf said to Stormkit. "I'm exhausted." She meowed. "Okay well, sleep well dear sister. I'm sorry about today..." Cloudkit trailed off. "It's not your fault." Said Stormkit as she touched her cheek with her paw then curled up and slept as Spottedleaf pressed more cobwebs on her wound. Tomorrow's another day...
