"I'll take that as a yes." I said slyly. The look of pure hatred warmed my insides, and I couldn't help but giggle. Not a good idea, I thought, as my head was smashed against the wall again. Unfortunately, I was one of those random people who laughed in the wrong situations. If my mom and I were fighting, and she was being serious, I would always end up laughing. At my brothers funeral I laughed as his casket was descending into the ground. I had received more than enough "she's crazy" stares that time.
"Like I said, anger issues." The words were said through clenched teeth. And once again, I was thrown into the wall. That third time did me in, and everything started to spin. Whooaaa.
Thank the lord Mr. woman beater let go. (A.N. Do you like my little nicknames for Ayden? Hehehe) My hand immediately went to the back of my head. Well I wasn't bleeding. Thank the lord for that as well.
My eyes followed Ayden as he walked out of the hotel room. Leaving me alone. ALONE! Okay Gwen calm down. For several minutes I sat there, waiting to see if anyone was coming back. No one came back.
In that next second, I was at the door, trying to pry it open. No luck. My eyes focused on the lock. Or locks. There was the one normal lock, one on the inside. But there was another one. One that locked from the outside. I screamed in frustration, and stomped over to the bed. Flopping down, I looked up at the ceiling. Could it really be that easy? I thought.
Apparently. Directly above was a small-ish vent. No bigger than a doggie door. And I could already fit through one of those.
Grabbing every pillow and blanket, couch cushion and anything else I could use to reach the vent, I started to pile them up, until I had one large hill, high enough to reach the vent. Next, I grabbed a butter knife, and started out trying to get the screws, checking the door occasionally. After over a hundred tries, and at least a dozen pinched fingers, I finally got the vent open. Looks like the lord was smiling down on me today.
Next step. I pushed and pulled the heavy furniture, so it blocked the door. That would stall them for some time, I hoped.
It took me a few tries before I finally got into the vent, which was much larger than the actual hole had been. From there, I started crawling.
Just like in the movies, the vent connected to every room. Which was surprising to me, but very helpful. I crawled through the vents as quietly as I could, but every so often I would hear the people below as what that noise was, or did you hear that?
Finally, I reached an unoccupied room a hundred rooms away from where I had started. Now how to get in. The screws were on the other side of the vent. Oh well. I struggled to sit down, but managed. Putting my feet on the vent, I pushed hard. The vent's bars weren't very strong in this room, so they snapped.
Carefully, I undid the screws, letting the vent cover fall to the ground. Just as carefully, I let myself down into the room, avoiding the broken vent cover when I fell.
Exhausting. But no time for breaks. I ran over to the door and opened it. A quick thank you to god (I was doing a lot of that today) and I was off, flying down the hallways, only stopping to walk if someone passed. When I hear the voice of a male, I immediately hid, or ran the other way.
After several hundred hallways, two elevator rides, and a flight of stairs, I finally reached the bottom floor. The hardest one of all.
As soon as I had seen that no good creepy manager of the hotel talking to another employee and pointing to where I had gone after breakfast, I knew something was wrong. It only took me a second to realize that he was working for Mr. kidnaper and his gang when I had woken up, from being drugged none the less.
So yes, this was the most dangerous floor. Were the other workers at the hotel in cahoots with Ayden? I had no idea. But I didn't really want to take that risk. But how would I get out? I looked around to see if god would give me any signs.
It wouldn't have been any clearer if he had covered the sign in the rays of heaven and added the holy choir. My way out, I thought with a wicked smile. Thank you Lord, I am forever in your debt.
