Chapter Nine - It's Happening

"What do you mean?" I am confused by the guards sudden words. What is he saying?

This doesn't make sense.

"I like you Jaehyun. I know I shouldn't, I'm just your bodyguard. Nothing more, nothing less. But that's not the point because it's happening" He avoids eye contact as though he were embarrassed.

"Then why...Why didn't you kiss me back?" I ask him and this causes him to hesitate as he looks to meet my gaze.

"Because you were an emotional mess. You weren't thinking straight and I wasn't going to take advantage of that." He explains and I find myself chuckling softly.

"Your my bodyguard."

"I know and I'm sorry for pushing my limits. I can leave if it's too much" He goes to let go of my hand but I tighten my grip.

"Don't go." I look into his eyes, mine holding a small glimmer of pleading.

He tightens his grip on my hand again and smiles gently.

"From today onwards I am going to court you. If that is allowed."

"Court me? What is this? The 1900s?" I smirk and he blushes slightly.

"I will allow it. But on one condition."

"What is it?" He questions, eyes filled with hope and slight excitement.

"It'll only be fair if I can court you as well."

He goes to reply but we are interrupted when the door opens. He is quick to let go of my hand and leans back in his chair.

Doyoung walks in with a frown covering his features. He takes his seat on my other side once more and looks at me.

"My manager says I have to go back to my schedule today. You're awake so apparently that's good enough."

"It's fine Doyoung. I really appreciate that you stayed until I did wake up. Thank you" I thank him and he just takes my hand gently.

"Make sure you watch the show tonight. I wont forgive you if you don't" He smiles sadly and I nod.

"Of course. I'd never miss it."

He bids his goodbyes to me and Taeyong before leaving the room again.

"We keep getting interrupted" The guard says sourly and I turn to face him.

"Maybe it means something. Maybe it means that we have to be quicker with what we want to say or do with each other."

"An example would be?" He slowly moves to sit on the end of his seat and I smirk at him.

"I'll whisper it" I lower my voice.

He looks at me suspiciously before moving his head so his ear is just next to my mouth. I quickly move to kiss his cheek.

He hurries to turn and look at me, his cheeks quickly turning a deep shade of red.

"I'm not an emotional mess now." I tell him firmly.

I've been in hospital for two weeks and today is the day that I'm finally being discharged.

Taeyong has been busy making sure he memorises everything which the doctors instruct for me to do until my wound heals completely.

No doubt he will nag me with this information until then.

Nara and Jaemin came to visit me last week when I was a little less pale and looked more alive.

She still freaked out but I managed to calm her and convince her that this was unlike last time.

"Jaehyun, are you ready?" Taeyong asks me as I grab a small bag filled with my things off the bed.

"You don't understand how excited I am to get out of here" I exclaim and walk ahead of him, out of the room.

We get to the entrance and I frown when I see the paparazzi have flooded the space.

The body guard comes to a stop beside me and scowls at them all. "I thought we managed to keep your release away from the press."

Just as I go to reply, someone pushes past me.

Stumbling forwards a step, I clutch my wound as the impact triggers a small burst of pain.

"Hey" Taeyong calms to the man who just continues to walk ahead.

He pauses and turns to peer over his shoulder at us like we were his underlings. His hair is bleached and looks as though it is due for a cut.

"Apologies Yoonoh" He smirks before turning on his heel, leaving the hospital.

I raise an eyebrow as I watch after him in confusion.

"Yoonoh?" Taeyong questions me as he takes the bag from my hands.

"Only a handful of people know that name." I mutter quiet enough so he hardly hears it.

I changed my name after I attempted suicide. I decided that I needed to have a new name as I was getting a second chance.

Of course that name is rarely used but it's there and is my legal name. Jaehyun is but a nickname now.

"Who was that?" The guard asks but I can't tell him as I don't know myself.

He looked familiar but I couldn't place a name to his face.

Taeyong takes a moment to make sure I'm okay before pulling out his phone. He calls the other guards and organises for us to leave.

"Please let's go home" Taeyong pleads to me as we drive down the freeway.

"I have to go to the office. It's been three weeks. I need to check some files and then we can go home" I tell him firmly.

He doesn't like it, but he reluctantly takes me to the company building.

Arriving in my office, I instantly remember the scene which unfolded in here.

They have replaced the glass and cleaned the blood which stained the carpet by my desk.

No one would know anything had happened. Unless they were here to see it.

Taking a seat at the desk, I drag my fingers along the wooden surface slowly.

"I had them bleach the carpets" A low voice states.

I look up in shock to see the person from the hospital. He smiles as he meets my gaze.

"Who are you?" I am quick to ask and he just shrugs as he walks over to the bookshelf.

"Who am I indeed" he says as he takes a red book from the shelf. He opens it and pulls out a small photo which was hidden within its pages.

"I should've remembered you forgot about me."

He places the book away and walks over to me, holding the small picture.

I look to see Taeyong standing in the doorway. He doesn't look at me as he watches this strangers every move.

Placing the photo on the desk, the man takes a small step back and gestures for me to look at it.

I pick it and up and look to see a photo from when I was a child. I'm with this other kid and we are covered in mud but we are both laughing.

"That was my 8th birthday. You surprised me by tackling me onto the ground. We rolled down a hill and landed in a huge pile of mud." The man recalls.

That's when it starts to hit me. I do know his person. This is the person who I spent so long pushing away.

This is

"Yuta."
