Chapter Five

"Poeple build up walls. Not to keep people out. But to see which ones care enough to break it down."
- Unknown

~Reid's POV!~

I got my Rachel back.

I couldn't believe it, I still can't believe it. She's back with me, safe. She showed up at my doorstep beaten and bruised. What happened back there? I completely lost myself for a few seconds just staring at her. While she sat on my doorstep beaten and bloody, I stood there and watched her. What's wrong with me?

"Here's your water." I said softly to her, handing her a glass of water.

She took it quietly and chugged it until the last drop. She set it on the sounter and stared at her hands. It was an awkward silence, and when she winced, I started worrying. I rushed to her aid and held her hands in mine. Why haven't we taken her to the hospital yet?

"What's wrong? Where does it hurt? We need to get you to the hospital, we've waited long enough! I'm taking yo-"

I was cut off when she looked up at me. Her eyes were open wide. They were full of fear, complete horror. I sat in front of her and she instantly laid her head on my shoulder. My lips burned of the kiss we shared just a mere few minutes ago. She sniffled and gripped the sleeves of my shirt. I pulled her closer and wrapped my arms around her waist.

"W-What happened back there Rachel? You have to tell me." I stuttered, pulling away from her and looking at the top of her head instead.

I sighed and used my finger to lift up her chin. I was shocked to see tears running down her face again. Her eyes flickered to my face and then back to the ground. She shook her head and hastily wiped the tears away.

"I won't force you to tell me right now...but you have to tell me at some point." She nodded and tried giving me a smile.

I grabbed her wrist and gently pulled her to her feet. She was wobbly at first, but then regained her balance.

"Now, we have to go to the hos-"

"NO! DON'T MAKE ME GO THERE! NO! PLEASE REID, DON'T!"

I jumped in surprise at she burst out screaming. She was shaking her head and gripping handfuls of her hair. I pushed her face into my chest and held her close. She squirmed with the touch and tried to pull away, but when I kissed her head, she slowly started calming down. Her breathing went back to normal and she sighed in defeat.

"Please....d-d-dont..." She got choked up and I agreed.

We weren't going to the hospital. I led her up the stairs carefully and into my room. She looked around, a sense of relief flooded her face. It seemed like seeing my house reassured her. I sat her on my bed and dissapeared into the bathroom for towels. I came back with two damp ones and sat in front of her on my bed.

"If we're not going to the hospital...then let me clean them. Can I do that, Rachel?"

Rachel clasped her hands in her lap and looked at the bed. I lowered my head until i reached her eyes. She turned nodded, biting her lower lip and closing her eyes. Her hands were trembling as she held them in the air. I gently grabbed them in mine and made her lift her head up.

"Rachel, you have to relax. You're okay now, I promise."

She seemed hesitant for a moment before she sighed and nodded slightly. I grabbed the cloth and sat back in front of her. I inspected the cuts on her face and began to wipe away the dry blood smeared to her skin.
She winced, but didnt complain. My eyes trailed down the the deep scars on her wrist from the bines digging into her flesh. Seconds after, she pulled her sleeve over top of it and looked the other way. Twice, twice she's had to know what it feels like to be tied down and tortured.
