-Katalina's POV-

"Are you sure you're ready to go this far across the world?" My mother asks me.

"Yes mother. I'm 18, and I need to go. I love you." I say turning around hugging her. Today is the day I get away from my horrible home. This place is the fucking worst.

Emotional, Verbal, Physical, Sexual abuse. My boyfriend of 3 years has been abusing me like my family, and it's all because I don't give my shit to him. I don't want to have sex with him.

He has been a pretty shitty person lately, and I have to cover my bruises in makeup everyday. I'm tired of this shit, I need to get away now.

I am moving to London, England to get away from my home, and to study Criminal Justice for free. I figured England was the best place to go, because my rent for a two bedroom flat will only be 400pounds. (In U.S. dollars that's 530)

"You're not really leaving you know that right?" My boyfriend Skyler says. I scoff and grab my suitcase.

"You don't get to tell me what I can and can't do. I am moving, and you are not my boss. I'm 18 anyways, so bye." I say stepping outside and running straight to the taxi waiting for me. I jump in and he drives off before Skyler can catch me.

I need away from here. This is a life I am leaving behind forever, and I will never allow it to hold me back anymore. I can't believe I grew the strength to leave, but I should have left earlier.

England here I come.

-Skip Flight-

I arrive in London at the airport and it's quite late here. I get off the plane with my bags, feeling very drowsy. I yawn as I go to get in a cab.

"You could join me in mine Miss?" A man offers me. He has blonde hair, and green eyes.

"Sure." I smile. He helps me get my bags in the trunk then we both get into the cab.

"Where you headed?" He asks.

"412 Faircroft Street." I say. He nods. The taxi driver takes us to our destinations, mine being last. I grab my money to pay the driver when he stops me.

"Your friend back there paid yours too." He says helping me grab my bags.

"Thanks." I say. I wish I could thank that guy. He is a sweetheart. I take my bags inside the flat building then trail upstairs to where my flat sits.

Flat 62. I sigh but unlock it and walk inside. It's a 2 bedroom flat with 2 bathrooms, a living room, and a kitchen. Perfect little area for a max of 3 people maybe 4 if its like 2 couples. I pick a bedroom and lay on the bed deciding to catch some shut eye before I go shopping for some food in the morning.

-Next Morning-

My alarm begins screeching through my ears making me get up quickly. I shut it off then get ready for the day. Once I get ready I grab my purse and my money, then leave the flat. I decide it's best to go get food first, then some other bed sets. Then start getting my flat all homey like.

I walk inside ASDA since it was the closest store to me. I grab a cart, and walk around deciding what I should get first. I decide to look at the bedding and home decor first. I grab a couple picture frames, some mirrors, a couple posters, a scentsy burner, some wax for it, a couple candles, and 4 bed sets. Once I grab those I make my way over to the food section and get stuff that will last me a few months.

I decide to kill more time by looking in the gift section, and I see a young man about 20ish standing there struggling to pick something.

"Hello there. You like you are having a hard time picking something. Need help?" I ask. He looks up at me with pleading eyes.

"Yes please. We got a new female neighbor recently, and we are making her a gift basket, but we aren't sure what she likes. A female point of view would be great help." He says practically begging me with his eyes.

"Well you can never go wrong with perfume, and makeup, but since she just moved in maybe try offering some home decor stuff, like candles, or a couple couch pillows, or even a small throw blanket. Girls love that. You could even maybe get her a giant hoodie she could cuddle up in when it's cold out, and she needs something to make her feel less lonely while drinking her tea or coffee. I know that's what I would personally like. You could also maybe even get her a coffee/tea mug set. I'm just throwing out some ideas. You can't go wrong with any of those." I smile.

"Thank you so much. I really appreciate it. My names Rye."

"I'm Katalina."

"You're American. Are you just a tourist or?"

"I live here too. I also just moved here, to study and get away from people." I say. "Just a fresh start."

"That's awesome."

"Well I better get going, I have to get my place all set up, but it was nice to meet you." I say. I get up from my crouching position then take my cart to the front. I ended up spending 600 pounds ($796.02 USD)

When I finally get my things I take the rental car back to the flat. I carry everything upstairs then start decorating. After about 4 hours in there's a knock on my door causing me to pause what I am doing. I answer it to a group of 7 guys.

"Hello. We heard about you moving in here. We brought you a gift." The older man says. I smile and take it. It's a giant gift basket full of stuff.

"Please come in?" I say opening the door. I walk towards the living room and put the basket on the table. I then see two familiar faces. Rye, and the blonde guy I shared the cab with last night.

"You're the new neighbor?" The ask in sync.

"Yeah I am." I smile.

"You know each other?" Another blonde asks.

"Yeah I met Rye at ASDA earlier, I gave him some help on what to get the new neighbor, which apparently had been myself. The blondie don't know his name, we shared a cab last night, and he paid my fare, which I thank you very much for that, you didn't have to." I say.

"No problem really. I'm Andy and these guys are Brooklyn, Blair, Jack, Harvey, and Mikey,"

"Nice to meet you, I'm Katalina." I say to them.

"I like that name." Jack says.

"Thank you. My parents are alcoholics." I reply.

"Wait what?" Brooklyn asks. I laugh.

"Just kidding. I mean there's a wine called Catalina, but it's with a C, mines spelled with a K. Kind of the same concept. However, they are alcoholics though." I say.

"Wow. So where you from?"

"A shitty place in America. A place I will never go back to. We will just leave it at that. Did you want me to open this with you guys here or?"

"Whatever you would be comfortable with." Rye says.

"I'll open it now. That way I can thank you for the stuff again." I say chuckling. We all sit around the living room getting comfortable. I grab the gift basket off the table and begin to open it. In the basket there sits everything that I told Rye would work for a gift basket.

"You got one of everything I gave you ideas of to get." I say looking at Rye.

"Well you said I couldn't go wrong with any of it." He says.

"You're right. Everything was right, and I absolutely love it all. Thank you guys so much, it will help the homey feel to the flat. Would you guys like some tea or coffee?" I ask.

"Sure. Coffee for me please, and tea for the rest of them." Brook says. I smile.

"Alright. I will be right back." I say stepping into the kitchen. I make coffee for Brooklyn, and myself, then make the tea for the others. I put it on a tray then take it to the living room. I give them each a mug, and they thank me.

"This is so good. You make the best tea ever!" Andy says. I laugh.

"I just make it the way I did back in the states."

Then my phone rings.
