A Sudden Change in Events

Two days after auditions, the cast list has been posted. Of course there's a crowd of about 30 people surrounding it, so Amber, Aliya, and I wait for it to settle down. Ashton is nowhere to be found. The crowd finally dies down after a few minutes, and I start scanning the list. I spot Ambers name. She will be playing the role of Belle, naturally, then I spot Aliya's, who will be playing Mrs Potts. Then I see my name. Right next to Gaston, and who better to play LeFou than Ashton Monroe.

"Congrats!!!" Amber says as she gives wraps her arms around Aliya and I. "I guess we kind of have to hate each other now." She grins, turning to me. We see Ashton come run around the corner. He stops in front of the list, and his face immediately lights up.

"Oh my god!!! This is like the exact part I wanted!" He says running his hand through his hair.

"Congratulations!" I say hugging him.

Written on the list, is the date of the first rehearsal. It's tomorrow. I find it ironic that two of few openly gay people in our school, have to play the two most heterosexual characters in Broadway history.

We're about to go to homeroom, when Ashton grabs my arm. Amber and Aliya stop as well, but he waves them to keep going.

"So um, can we talk now?"

"Sure."

"So what happened at Ambers party, do you want to..." His voice trails off.

"Want to what?"

"Do it again?" He blurts. My heart literally skips a beat. Is Ashton Monroe, the most beautiful guy I've ever met, the guy I've had a crush on for months, asking to kiss me? For a second time? This cannot be happening.

I take his hands in mine, "Yes. 100 percent yes. Just not here, in the middle of the hallway. Do you maybe wanna meet at Starbucks after school today?"

"Nothing would please me more." He smiles.

"Well then, I'll see you then Ashton Monroe." I say with a bow. I walk to homeroom, feeling the happiest I have in a long time.
