Ashton's POV
This chapter takes place 3 days after the previous one.
I open my phone to 6 missed calls from my mother. I'm done with her. My father basically removed me from the family, and she just sat there and did nothing. She pretended like everything was ok. Well newsflash mom, it freaking wasn't. Your husband was being a homophobe and you did nothing to stop him.
As angry as I am, I listen to the voicemails she left.
"Ash, honey, I'm so sorry about what happened the other night, your father was being irrational," No shit sherlock, "we talked about it last night, and I decided that I can't live in this house without you. Your sister found out, and she refuses to visit us, please come home." Maybe she should've thought about that before she let my father kick me out. Also, my sister is the best. She's a sophomore at McGill University, which is only a 50 kilometer drive from my house. She is the most liberal person I know, besides myself, which is why we don't talk about politics. My dad is the ultra conservative. Even though Canada legalized gay marriage a few years ago, he refuses to believe that "homosexuals" are actual humans.
Another voicemail; "Ash, please come home, I'll kick your father out of the house, if that's what it takes to get you and your sister back, I'll do anything." She starts crying, I hear faint yelling in the background, and the message ends.
At this point, I'm not sure if I want to go back or not. On one hand, I want to be in my own house, on the other, I don't think I can live with my mother after what she let my father do. Scrolling even further through my notifications, I see a text from my sister;
HARPER: HEY BUD, I WENT HOME THE OTHER NIGHT, AND YOU WERENT THERE. I ASKED MOM WHERE YOU WERE AND SHE JUST STARTED CRYING, AND DAD TOLD ME THE WHOLE STORY. I AM SO SO SOO SORRY. I WANT YOU TO KNOW THAT I LOVE YOU SO MUCH NO MATTER WHAT. YOU ARE ALWAYS WELCOME TO STAY IN MY APARTMENT, WHERE ARE YOU STAYING BY THE WAY?
ME: THANKS, I AM STAYING AT MY FRIEND AMBERS HOUSE FOR NOW, ARE YOU SURE YOUR ROOMMATE WOULD BE OK IF I STAYED THERE? I LOVE YOU.
At lease someone in my fucking family accepts me. I decide not to call my mom back, I'll do it tomorrow at some point tomorrow. I've lost the energy.
