Oliver's POV
I want to hurt someone. Ashton's parents to be specific. I walk around school all day with my fists clenched, unable to concentrate. I know I probably have no reason for this, after all it didn't happen to me, it happened to Ashton, but I can't help but to feel angry for him.
I really want to help him, but I know my parents will say no if I ask if he can stay at our house. They can barely afford to keep a roof over our heads and to feed my two sisters and I, let alone another teenager.
Our lunch table is silent. None of the 8 of us speak. Speaking of which, I haven't introduced our little band of misfits yet. Besides Leah, Aliya, Brayden, and Celeste, there's Quinn Kane, Lexie Pearson, and Blake Gallagher.
Quinn I just met this year through the GSA (Gender Sexuality Alliance) at our school, and she has ben one of my best friends ever since. She is dating Lexie, who I sit next to in science class. They are the literal most adorable couple ever. Blake is in a league all of his own. He is the stereotypical over achiever. He has straight A's and is straight. He is my only straight friend, I'm not kidding.
"Ok, so everyone here is going to my Halloween party next weekend right?" Quinn asks excitedly as she takes her seat between Brayden and Lexie. Everyone awkwardly nods, since, you know, we're all awkward. That's why we're friends.
Amber taps my shoulder; "My parents said that Ashton can stay at my place. Just thought you'd want to know." Thank god. At least he won't have to spend another night on a park bench. I can't help but feel guilty knowing that I can't do anything else for him. It makes me feel like the worst boyfriend ever.
Random thought of the day, have you ever felt trapped in your own head? Like no matter what you do, you will always be worthless? Guess what, that's how I feel right now. And I hate it. I hate being useless. But I'll try to keep a positive outlook. Ashton has a place to sleep, and Halloween, my favorite holiday, is this weekend (I'm dressing up as a male Cruella De Vil and it's gonna be great), and I actually have a boyfriend. Life is somewhat good for a change, and I'd like to keep it that way.
