Ashton's POV

Dinner that night is... how should I put this... interesting? We eat our chicken curry in silence, nothing but the clinking of forks and knives against plates can be heard.

"This is very good Dad" I state trying to break the silence.

"Agreed." My mother concurs.

"Thank you Susan." My dad replies, ignoring me. I can't take this.

"Why can't we just eat dinner like a normal family?" I exclaim, "What is so wrong with you that you ignore your own son?"

"You aren't my son anymore," he replies calmly, "and as long as you're a f****t, you will never be!" He starts to raise his voice. My mom just sits there, continuing to eat her dinner, as if nothing is wrong.

"Why can't you just..." I begin but my dad stands up in the middle of my sentence.

"Go. I don't care where, just leave!" He shouts, pointing towards the door. My mother starts crying at this point, still taking bites of her chicken, pretending she has a perfect life, with a perfect family, and as much as I hate to admit it, I'm crying too. I don't have anywhere else to go, i don't have any other family in town, they all live in Quebec, and the only friends I have are Amber and Oliver, and I don't know where either of them live, nor do I have their phone numbers.

Yet I stand up anyway, and run up to my room, packing a few sets of clothes, my phone charger, my secret pride flag I keep under my mattress, and the necklace my sister gave to me before she moved to Germany. I run back downstairs and out the door, not uttering a word.
