Carters POV

We arrived at an old apartment building that wasn't too far away from the alley where I had been shot.

We entered and Drew led the way. We went to the stairs and Drew openned the door.

"We own the basement floor," Rowen explained as we started walking down the stairs. There was no elevator in the building.

"You own the whole floor?" Karl asked confused.

"Yeah, It is also my workshop. I am an artist," Drew said.

"Of course you are..." William said. Just then we reached the bottom of the stairs and Drew unlocked the door with a key and openned it. Inside was big sheets of metal and blow torchs and other tools.

"Wait... I thought you said you were an artist...." William said.

Drew smirked and said, "I am. I make metal sculptures. You probably have seen one or two of mine around town already."

"Woah!" I said, "That is so cool."

"His works are amazing! But he doesn't think so..." Rowen said.

"Well enough of what I do, let's go to the guest room," Drew said obviously trying to change the subject. I could already tell Drew didn't like to be the center of attention.

Rowen however did. He grinned and lead us past all the tools and half finished sculptures and brought us to the back where they lived.

"We sleep in that room, the bathroom is over there, and the guest bedroom is down the hall," Rowen said, "It only has one bed so three of you will have to sleep on the floor. We have two sleeping bags you can use."

"Obviously Carter will sleep on the bed since she is injured," Karl said, "I vote William goes without a sleeping bag."

"What?! Why?" William said shocked.

"Because you were being an asshole," I said. William muttered something but with a glare from me decided not to argue anymore.

"Wait a minute," Karl said, "You heard Carter scream from all the way over here? This is a block away from where we were mugged..." Karl was always the one who noticed things most of us didn't.

"Well...uh... we were outside the building coming inside..." Rowen stuttered.

"Isn't it loud around here though with all the music playing?" Damian asked.

Drew looked at Damian and suddenly said, "Wait you have red eyes. I didn't notice before." Damian looked down quickly. William handed him a pair of sunglasses which he put on quickly. I though I heard Damian mumble a short thanks.

Rowen eyes were studying Damian. He sighed and ran a hand through his hair obviously trying to decide what to do.

"Is he a-" Drew started to say but was cut off.

"No. He isn't. Close enough," Rowen said then turned to us, "I'm sorry but you guys have to go. You can't stay here."

"Wait? You know about vampires?" I said. Rowen and Drew nodded. "So we can't stay because he is a vampire?"

"You can't stay because I don't hang around the paranormal society..." Rowen said.

"Why not?" William asked.

"I can't tell you guys. Just go. Get out," Rowen said.

"Are you hiding from all of paranormal society? Or just the immortales," I asked.

Rowen hesitated, "uh.........well....all of paranormal society but especially the Immortales."

"We are the same. Well, mostly. I don't hide from my friends I guess," I said.
