Surfing

Carter's Pov

As we walked out of the gates and left the mansion, I let out a sigh of relief. I can't believe we actually got away with that. I thought she would've figured out we were wierd.

Although if she did figure it out, William could always just wipe her mind. We were walking towards town in hopes of stealing a car. I felt bad we had to steal, but we really didn't have a choice.

Blaise was walking a few steps behind the rest of us. He was obviously irritated. That girl, Ashton, had gotten on his nerves.

"Blaise, hurry up! I don't care if your ego is hurt or if your hungry. They were both your fault any ways," I said to him.

I ducked as I saw a red flame come towards me. I looked around to make sure no one else had seen him use his powers. Then I glared at him.

"ARE YOU CRAZY?! First of all, you could've killed me! Second of all, you could've blown our cover," I yelled at him.

William then said, "She's right. You need to stop thinking of yourself," he paused and turned towards me, "we shouldn't have brought him. He is messing everything up."

Karl was obviously trying his best to control his wind. I could feel the breeze picking up.

I took a deep breath trying myself not to do anything rash then said, "Okay let's all calm down. We are going to end up doing something that we'll regret."

I turned around and kept walking and they followed. Soon I saw a car driving down the road. We waved it down and as soon as it stopped William 'persuaded' the guy to get out of the car.

We all got in. William was driving like always and for once I got in the passenger seat. The rest got in the back.

We drove off. I saw the car had GPS. I turned it on and looked to see where we were.

"William, go up into Nevada first then go into California. The bottom of the California is near Mexico and the Pacific Ocean, so it is probably the perfect place for a base...." I speculated.

"You are correct," William said, "There is on at the bottom of California and one at the top. There are also a few noble families in the big cities; Los Angeles mainly. But nobles are too lazy to be searching for us. They are just rich brats, but they will recognize me. So I think we should stay in San Franciso."

I nodded and looked out the window before saying, "How long until we get there?"

"A full days drive. Hopefully we will get there by tonight," William said.

I sighed. I hated car rides. I looked back at the others. Blaise was doing his best to ignore all of us. Karl and Damian were both staring off into space. I sighed. We weren't much of a team.

I stared off into space and day dreamed about random things.

It was sunset and we were reaching San Francisco. I stretched and yawned.

Karl looked outside and said, "I think we should go to the beach...."

We all looked at him.

"The beach?" Damian asked.

"Yeah... find a deserted beach, go surfing, take a vacation. The only other option is stay at a motel until morning and then drive for another day to another random place," he said.

"That is the most ridiculous idea ever..." I said before adding, "I also think it sounds pretty awesome. I'm in."

"What?" William asked.

"Beach. Let's go. We are as safe at a beach as at a motel. Plus there is water, which gives me the upper hand if we are attacked," I said.

Damian hesitated before saying, "I like surfing.... my brothers and I use to go when we were younger..."

"I hate water..." Blaise mumbled.

"Well deal with it we are going to the beach..." I said.

William rolled his eyes at me then said, "okay the beach it is."

I smiled looking forward to surfing. I had never surfed before, but me and Karl use to snow board so it shouldn't be too difficult.

We arrived at the beach and it seemed pretty busy to me, but compared to how busy it usually is in the daytime, it wasn't that busy.

We got out of the car and rented some surfboards and other equitment. Yes, we actually paid for something this time. We walked down the beach until we found an area where there were no people and no one would bug us.

I was about to get in the water with my surf board, but I heard some voices. I saw a grass section of land not to far away and saw a girl planting a sapling. I decided to ignore her and I went in the water.

I started paddling and soon the others joined me. I was sick of paddling so I concentrated and the water starting pushing me ahead on its own.

"Not fair!" The others yelled.

I looked back and the only one not in the water was Blaise. I turned back around and saw a wave coming.

"Damian, now would be a good time to mention I have no idea how to surf...." I said.

"Me neither..." Karl added.

"I have surfed before, but I'm not very good," William said.

Damian gave me a look then sighed and said, "okay listen carefully to me. good thing this wave isn't to big..."

Damian explained to us step by step how to surf. Karl fell and got a mouth full of water, before coming up sputtering. Damian did it perfectly, of course. William was shaky, but didn't fall. I fell but just before I hit the water, I had the water come up to meet me so it wouldn't hurt.

"No fair!" Karl said laughing.

"It is fair! If using your powers benefits you and no one is around except us. Use them. It is good practice," I said.

"Okay," Karl said. Then he used his air to push water in my face.

I sputtered and said, "Jerk."

I was about to splash him back when I happened to glance at the grassy spot I noticed earlier. For a moment I forgot to stop swimming and almost sunk.

"What's wrong?" Karl said.

"That tree..." I said, "it was a sapling. There was a girl planting it. Now it is a tree."

I grabbed got on my surf board and Karl got on his and I pushed us back. We met up with the others on shore.

"Guys we need to go. I think there may be someone paranormal here. That tree over there was a sapling 10 minutes ago..." I said.

"Wait, where is Blaise?" I asked.

I looked around and then I saw him. He was walking and talking with the girl I saw earlier.

"Oh no... there he is... and that is the girl who planted the sapling...." I said.
