Carter's POV

"Okay, so now that you have figured out your ranks... who is her second in command?" Jeremiah asked.

"I am," Blaise said.

Blaise explained his powers and then we went one by one until everyone had listed their powers. Jeremiah listened, but didn't write anything down. He must have a great memory.

When he learned that only Karl and Evangalene didn't have their full powers yet I noticed a quick emotion cross his face. It was so fast that I couldn't tell what the emotion was. Probably regret or fear or something. After all, he would be dying soon.

"Okay, now that that is done. Let's work on your powers..." Jeremiah said.

He paused to make sure we were all listening then continued on, "Okay, the first thing we need to work on is your range. None of you guys have very far range. Most of you either have to be touching or have the target in sight. If you have to be that close in a battle you will die."

"So how do we get better range?" Blaise asked.

"Practice. The more you practice the farther you can get. Every time you have free time practice. You need to practice every chance you get. Try not to kill anybody though," Jeremiah explained.

He paused and collected his thoughts before continuing, "You also need to practice working together with your powers. If you all are just fighting on your own, you will be easy to pick off and kill. You need learn how to combine your powers to make better powers. Do you understand?"

We all nodded and he said, "Okay good. That is all I need to teach you guys."

"Wait! You aren't going to show us or help us or anything?" Blaise asked.

I could tell he was pissed. I really hoped he didn't do something stupid.

"You know what? I don't even understand why we needed his help. He has barely helped us at all," Blaise headed towards the door.

"Blaise, wait." I said.

I was about to say something else, but Jeremiah cut me off and said, "Yeah 'Blaise' wait. Fire is always so temperamental. It is never open-minded and also ends up burning itself. If you don't pay attention you are going to be the reason this group fails and you know what happens if you guys fail...."

Blaise turned around and glared at him so Jeremiah took a step closer and continued, "Oh. You haven't told the others. I know that stupid 'Prince' has been hiding it from them, but I really thought you would tell them. Water has trusted you enough to give you the position of second in command and you don't tell her one of the most important things...."

Blaise started running towards them and I tried to hold him back but Jeremiah said, "Let him come.."

I wouldn't have let Blaise go except he was starting to heat up, literally heat up. His skin felt like it was on fire and if I held him back much longer I would burn myself. So I let him go and backed up.

Blaise charged at Jeremiah and threw a punch at him. Jeremiah dodged it easily, which made Blaise even more mad. He started to throw another punch and this time his fist was on fire. I knew that if Jeremiah didn't dodge this, it could kill him.

Jeremiah didn't seem worried at all though. He just stood there and wait until the last second then ducked and kicked his legs out from underneath him.

Blaise got back up quickly. Jeremiah kicked him in the gut though making him bend over and then finished him off by kicking him in the side so he would fall over.

Jeremiah turned to us and said, "A big thanks to Blaise for volunteering to be my example. The next lesson is don't let your anger control you. It will cause you to fight like a 10-year-old little girl."
