Part 8: Pancakes and backstory

Never in Hiccups life had he been excited to try food that wasn't meat, who knows, maybe it would give him the extra meat on his bones that his dad always seemed to complain about, maybe even stop him from looking like a toothpick.

Though it would help if Astrid didn't have to bring her axe with her. He didn't dare ask her if the axe was really necessary.

Though Hiccup was early, it was just so Astrid didn't try any funny business with the new edition.

As Hiccup and Astrid walked up the last part of the hill/slope, they could have sworn they heard singing. As they got even closer the words became clearer.

"We won't let them change how we feel in our hearts, we not gonna let them control us, we won't let them shove all their thoughts in our head, and we'll never be like them" (Simple Plan: Me against the world, i put a video up top in case your curious)

Not gonna lie, it was really weird hearing a guy sing since they only did it during festivals, some girls did it too. Question was, was 'what was he singing about'?

However Astrid did not wait for (male name) to finish his song, instead, she thought to embarrass him by clapping just as he paused to catch his breath.

Boy did it scare the daylights out of (male name), he jumped around with a knife in his hand ready to throw it before lowering his arm it when he realised who it was.

"Hiccup, Astrid your both here early" (Male name) said as if he hadn't held a knife ready to kill them.

"We both wanted to see if-" Hiccup was cut off.

"How did those plants grow so quickly?" Astrid asked with a small amount of shock in her voice.

Hiccup frowned but looked at where she was pointing, sure enough, a small patch of plants were already springing to life and were showing their leaves already, Hiccup recognised them as cabbage and, something orange, he wasn't sure on what that was.

"I did say my family held a secret" (Male name) stated "anyway, I'm just about to make the batter, your welcome to look around outside the building until they are done"

"What secret would that be?" Astrid looked at him as if he was about to throw daggers at her and Hiccup.

"If I told you that it wouldn't be a secret would it? Besides, you don't see me asking you about your family's hidden talents, do you?" (male name) shot back as he turned back around towards the counter.

"Why can't we go inside the house?"

"ASTRID!" Hiccup warned her "leave him alone"

"Its alright Hiccup" (Male name) waved him off "she doesn't trust me, especially from how I made my entrance to Berk" he started adding some ingredients together in a wooden bowl before he continued "all she sees is someone with a new dragon and wearing strange clothes she has never seen before, I am an intruder in the wolves den"

Once all the ingredients were in the bowl, (male name) got a wooden spoon and began to stir, he looked at them both as he did so "there are some things I do not wish to tell you, mainly to protect both me and my dragon, if I feel like I can trust you enough, I will tell you what that is, but for now I will gladly tell you what I can, is that fair?"

Hiccup nodded, at least that way they would have a better understand of who it was they were talking to "Perhaps you could start off with your backstory? What you are willing to tell us that is" Hiccup suggested.

(Male name) nodded "well my name is (full name), I am-" he paused and frowned "I honestly don't know if I am 12 or 15 years old, I look young but I feel mentally older, if that makes sense"
