"My religion says that gay is wrong."

Oh really? Where does it say that in the constitution?

Because the first Amendment says "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof;"

So yes, you can practice your religion freely.
But no, because according to Thomas Jefferson in a letter to the Danbury Baptist Association on January 1, 1802, he said

"I contemplate with sovereign reverence that act of the whole American people which declared that their legislature should 'make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof,' thus building a wall of separation between Church & State."

This is to keep America non bias when it comes to laws and Religion. But no one cares now.

Church and State are separate. So a teacher can't force their political views on you. And a priest can't tell you to be straight and tell you that being gay is wrong. It's illegal. Because LGBTQ+ is a state matter.

"But homosexuals were mentioned in the Bible, so it's a church matter too."

Politics were mentioned in the Bible as well.

When ever someone tells you this, now you have a good comeback.
