"Karma, I won't wait all day." Elle said from her place beside the door.
"Just hold on a second, I'll grab my phone and we will go." I said running to the kitchen. I heard her complaining but ignored it.
When I grabbed my phone I checked to see if there's anything left to clean but found nothing so I went back to Elle.
"Finally, I swear the time I spend waiting for you is like an extra shift." Elle said.
"Like you actually do any work rather than stare at Zed for four hours."
"Whatever," she said locking the door.
We then started making our way back talking about nothing in particular. That's actually my favourite time of the day, I like walking back to the dorm when the moon is shining and the streets are almost empty, I like talking to Elle about anything that comes to our mind and how our laughs echoes in the drake streets. It doesn't make me scared at all. it actually makes me feel at peace with everything.
"Oh, what have you done with that professor? He's still giving you a hard time?" She asked when it got quiet.
"You know, just the occasional looks but it's fine." I rolled my eyes.
"You can always tell someone about him."
"It's not that serious." I shrugged. We fell back into the scilence as our footsteps echoes in the street.
I had been so distract by the beautiful night that I didn't even realise we were almost in front of where Elle takes the bus.
"Karma, do you really think I will make it?" Elle said with a look of uncertainty in her eyes.
"Of course Elle, of course you will make it. You've been ballet dancing since you were a kid. They can't deny someone like you, I think you were born for this. You do it with so much love, I'm sure they will see that."
"I really hope they do karma, this job would literally change my life."
"You will get the job Elle, I'm sure you will." I told her with a smile.
"You sure know how to calm me down, you want me to walk you to your dorm?" She smiled.
"Thank you, I will walk back. Just tell your mom I said hi." I said.
"Okay then," she said with a smile and I started to make my way back but turned around before I could think about what I was doing.
"Hey Elle,"
"Yeah?" She turned to face me.
"Thank you for being there for me, you know you're my favourite one in England so far, right?" I said with a smile.
"Of course I'm, you know I'm everyone's favourite."
"Yeah except Zed."
"I will be, you just wait."
"Yeah yeah sure, We will see."
"I do love you though." She said making me smile at her.
"Okay I'm going to go now because this emotional half yelling conversation is starting to get weird." I laughed.
"See you tomorrow babe." Elle said.
I waved at her before I started to continue my walk to the dorm. Usually I would listen to music but tonight is just too beautiful that I wanted to enjoy how peaceful everything is.
For some unknown reason, I started to remember my childhood and that makes me miss my mom even more. Being away from home had made me appreciate everything about it. I miss my old life. I don't feel like I belong here, I've tried to fit in and get used to life here but I just can't.
See, that's the problem, whenever I remember home I would always end up sad. The thing is, when I left, I was so happy. But now all I feel is emptiness.
Sometimes I think I might just go home but then I remember how studying here will make my future much better and how my parents are going to be proud of me and that gives me the push I need to continue on living.
I grabbed my phone and brought my mom's number. I might as well text her and see how she's doing.
'Hey mama, I'm writing to you in English see? :). Anyway I just wanted to tell you that I miss you so much. Tell everyone that I miss and love them okay? Text me when you see this please. Love youu.'
I looked at my phone for a second then I sent it to her and returned it to my pocket. I was almost back and I didn't want my walk to end.
I don't know what is so special about tonight but I really feel different and kind of content. The moon was full too and there were a lot of stars. I think I will trip because I'm not really looking at where I'm going, I'm only staring at the sky and smiling. I'm pretty sure I look stupid.
I was surprised when I heard voices since the street was empty. I looked down from the sky and spotted a group of girls coming my way. Their laughs already giving out how drunk they were.
I tried not to make eye contact with any of them as I walked so I would avoid any awkward conversation but that didn't work out because as soon as I passed them I heard one of them talking.
"Hey." She said and I turned around to make sure she was talking to me. They all gave me strange looks that made my heart beats faster.
"Yes?" I said with uncertainty and they started walking toward me. I was so afraid that I tried to run but my legs wouldn't move.
