CHAPTER 8

Lucy

Hands grabbed my shoulders and began shaking me. My eyes flew open and I reached out to slap the face of whoever was shaking me.

"Hey!" Barron began rubbing his cheek even though I knew it didn't hurt him.

"Don't wake me up." I flopped back onto the bed. No one interrupts my sleep. Not even Barron.

"I just wanted to know if you wanted pancakes or a taquito. Hale had to leave this morning but he will be back around noon. Jake brought food and whatever you don't eat I will." He pulled the covers off me and I scrambled to get them back.

"You woke me up to ask me what food I want?" I chucked a pillow at his face.

"Well, Lucy, it is 11:30. You kind of need to wake up anyway." Barron said motioning with his hand to the sunlight streaming in through the window.

"Eleven thirty on a Saturday is like the middle of the night, Barron." I groaned flipping over on my bed. A fleeting thought crossed my mind that I should call Hale and make him make Barron let me sleep but I instantly dismissed the thought. That would be mean...

Barron pulled my arms making me sit up. I rolled my eyes. "Jake needs to know what you want." He said bringing the subject of food back up.

"Jake?" Why would Barron be calling Jacob Jake?

"Jake, Jacob. Hurry up, I am hungry." When I didn't get up Barron threw me over his shoulder and began to carry me downstairs.

"Put me down!" I slapped at his back but that only made him laugh.

Barron didn't put me down until we reached the kitchen table. Jake was sitting on the side facing the window but he turned around when Barron set me on the counter.

"Mornin', Lucy."

"Morning, Jake." I mimicked his tone.

Barron wasted no time digging into the brown bag placed on the island in the kitchen. "Hey, I want some too!" I reached over the bag as Barron pulled various plastic bowls filled with pancakes and taquitos. "Did you buy the whole restaurant?" There was so much food.

"Almost, Hale gave me plenty of money for food and whatever else you happen to want." Jake patted his pocket.

Barron handed me some pancakes with syrup and I carried my food upstairs into the game room. I switched on the TV and was joined by Barron and Jake a few seconds later.

"No, no, no, no." Jake took the remote from me when I turned the channel to Gossip Girls.

"Jake!" I complained reaching for the remote but he held it out of my reach.

"One movie of mine and Barron's choice then I'll take you wherever you want."

I thought for a minute. I really wanted to go back to the mall. Barron's birthday was coming up and I needed to buy him something.

"Anywhere I want?" I questioned.

"Anywhere."

"Just you and me?" Jake narrowed his eyes wondering where this was going.

"Yes." He answered after a long pause. Barron looked unsure of what to say but I could tell he wanted to watch the movie so he didn't say anything.

We were barely into forty five minutes of the movie when I fell asleep on Jake's shoulder.

I was loudly woken up by the sound of a door hitting the wall. Could I not get any sleep without being rudely woken up?

I bolted upright and looked at the door. Jake quickly stood up and directed his gaze to the ground.

Hale stood at the door looking furious. It was obvious his wolf was at bay. "What the hell is going on here?" He growled.

Hale stormed over to Jake and hit him across the face. Jake crumpled to the floor. Hale pulled back his fist like he would hit him again but I stood up and got between them. "Move." Hale ordered.

"You can go, Jake." I told him as he got up. Just before he reached the door Hale's hand shot out and stopped him.

"Not yet, Jake." Hale never took his eyes off of me. My blood boiled at how Hale was acting as if I was below him.

"Yes, you can, Jake." I tore my eyes away from Hale and looked at Jake. Honestly I was only contradicting Hale because he was being so rude. Jake waited for Hale to nod before leaving. As soon as the front door slammed Hale stormed out of the room.

"What is wrong with you?" I followed Hale out of the room.

"Why were you laying on him like that?" Hale spun around.

"Like what? I was sleeping. "I put emphasis on sleeping.

"You are mine." With that Hale pulled me into his arms and crushed his lips against mine.

His hands moved from my waist to my thighs as he bent down and picked me up. I wrapped my legs around his waist and I felt him carry me towards our bed room. His tongue licked my lower lip and I moaned. He took the chance at my lips parting to slip his tongue into my mouth and deepen the kiss.

Hale laid me on the bed and settled himself on top of me. My legs were still wrapped around his waist. His hands began to rub up and down my sides giving me chills.

His lips moved away from mine and he began to trail kisses along my jawline and down to my neck. He bit down on his claim and I moaned again. His hands started making his way to my breast and my eyes opened. The daze Hale's kiss had put me in began to fade and I forced myself to push him away.

It took three shoves from me before Hale realized what I was trying to do. He growled as he sat up. Tears began to spill out of my eyes when I looked at Hale.

When Hale saw I was crying he pulled me into his arms. His hands rubbed soothing circles on my back.

I don't know what made me cry but I just felt really sad. I felt bad for leading Hale on and then pushing him away.

"Shh, baby. Don't cry. It's alright." Hale continued mumbling in my ear attempting to make me feel better but, honestly, he was making me feel worse.

"Just so you know, I fully blame that claim that you made on me for me crying. It's like I begin PMSing every time you touch it." My voice was muffled by his strong chest. I felt his chest rumble when he chuckled.

"I've heard of that happening." I pulled away from him and looked into his deep blue eyes. He smirked and pecked me on the lips before setting me softly on the bed and getting up.

I took that as a sign that I was forgiven for sleeping on Jake.
