Chapter 16: "He's gonna kill me."

HARPER'S POV

It was morning when I received a message from Seige saying that Quinn is missing. Rob happened to call Seige asking if Quinn slept there overnight, of course she wasn't. Quinn doesn't go to a sleepover at any of our houses without a heads up, not even if it's an emergency. Quinn may be giving at times, but if she wants it her way, it's gonna end up in her way. Rob of course didn't try to call me because he knows that my Aunt Eve wouldn't let me have anyone to sleepover here.

I never told my story.  Why I'm here at Frostwallow and where my real parents are.

First off, about my parents. I never met them. I grew up seeing Aunt Carol and Aunt Eve. No one else. I never saw what they looked like, or even know what their names are. I just know that my Aunt Carol and Eve aren't really my Aunts. They found me when I was a baby. That's what aunt Carol said. She's best of friends with Aunt Eve and they used to live in an apartment around Frostwallow before, but when they found me at the grocery store, left in a box  with my binky and blanket, Aunt Carol took charge and carried me in her arms until we got home to their apartment. She told me that Aunt Eve didn't want me at all, she said that I might be a trap, you know, like a scam. But Aunt Carol has a good heart and said that she believes that I'm just an innocent baby needing love and care. She was the one who gave me that name, she said it's because she said that it suited my appearance when I was a baby. I'm not sure why, she just says that I do.

I sat up and took a shower before taking a slice of pancake in my hand and going out of the house. My bag slinging on my shoulder, my green jacket protected me somehow from the drizzling that just so happened to start when I got out of the house. The girls said that we should just meet up at the gym. I was a bit early, because when I arrived it was only Lilith there.

"Hey."

"Hey."

"Where are the others?" I asked Lilith.

"They're on their way," Lilith said as she tapped her foot on the floor. "Quinn left the group chat and I tried calling her phone but it said that it's out of coverage area," she said anxiously.

"Where the heck would that girl be?" I frustratingly asked more to myself.

"We're here, we're here," Seige said as she, Daphne, and Autumn arrived.

Seige was out of breath so Autumn was the one who spoke. "We know where she is,"

"Wait how?!" I exclaimed making all of them shush me. "Sorry."

"She messaged Daphne last night," Seige said.

"She told me that she's going away for a while and we shouldn't bother looking for her. She wants to see her mom."

"Mom? Isn't her mom with another family already?" I asked.

"I don't know, but I do know that her mom used to live at Brittlepost."

"Brittlepost? That's five towns away from us!" I exclaimed.

"She obviously wants to be alone," Autumn said. "I heard that Evan slapped her hard yesterday that she spat blood on the floor.

"How did you know?" Seige asked Autumn who just shrugged.

"I've got my sources."

"Of course you do," Seige rolled her eyes before drinking some water by the water fountain.

We heard a loud slam on the lockers making us all look towards the direction it came from. It was Mr. Colson, and he was holding Cole against the lockers. His fists curled the collars of Cole's polo as he pushed him harder on the lockers.

"Hide!" I whisper yelled making all of us run towards the side and hiding behind the wall. I peeked and saw that Mr. Colson was fuming.

"What did your boyfriend do now?" Lilith asked Daphne who sighed and shook her head.

"I don't know, that bastard gets himself into trouble a lot."

"Shhh!" I shushed them so we could hear what they were talking about.

"NEVER! and I say NEVER go inside my office and snoop around my documents again! Got it? I can take down every good record you have and replace it with a stupid jock's record just so you wouldn't get in to any of the Ivy League schools. I hold your future in my hands so don't mess with me, Burton. Don't. Mess. With. Me."

"I won't, I won't! P-please let me go!" Cole said and Mr. Colson let him off. He entered his office and I peeked seeing Cole panting.

"Pssst!" I called and he looked at me. I gestured my hand for him to come over and he nodded. He walked fast towards us and started crying.

"Oh okay?" Seige said as she pat Cole's back. "There there."

"He's gonna kill me," Cole said and looked at Daphne. "I'm sorry. I'm really sorry," he begged and knelt in front of Daphne. 

"I'm lost, what is happening?" I asked and Daphne sighed. Tears brimming her eyes. "They found out?"

"Just Colson," Cole said and stood up hugging Daphne.

"What is going on? Tell us already," I groaned and Daphne sighed.

"YOU'RE PREGNANT?" Seige exclaimed making Autumn slap her arm.

"No, I'm not!" Daphne answered and she closed her eyes. "I told Cole about this."

"Why would you do that?!" I exclaimed.

"He's my boyfriend and I trust him! Don't you trust yours?!" Daphne exclaimed making me take a step back. She never yelled at me. She never yelled at anyone.

"What are you doing when he saw you?" Seige asked Cole who stopped crying now.

"I was in his office. I knew Daphne is going through a lot right now and I want to help her out. So I decided to come in early today and go through Colson's stuff-"

"Why Colson?" I asked and Daphne answered.

"Remember when I saw Ethan at the place where Doug was. From then on, I got curious so the next day I went back and talked to Ethan this time. He told me about Kimmie's murder and he knows something that happened and he saw someone when the murder occurred."

"So you're saying Colson-"

"No. I'm saying that Colson was there and someone else."

"Who's the other?" Lilith asked.

"It was Nyre."

"The principal?" I whisper yelled.

"Yes! And he's onto us now since Cole here got caught snooping."

"You little shit!" Seige said and slapped Cole's head. "You should've been more careful! What were you even looking for?!"

"The letters Kimmie sent them," he said and looked behind before continuing. "We all know Kimmie was popular and such, but she was weird. So weird that she had a relationship with the two."

"That's disgusting," Seige said.

"Oh please, you use the term "daddy"," Autumn said.

"Shut up," Seige blushed.

"Wait so what are we gonna do now?" Lilith asked and I pursed my lips indicating that I'm brainstorming."

I was about to say something when we saw someone walk towards us.

"Fancy seeing you six here," he said and looked at all of us. "Loitering isn't allowed in my school. Get to your classes," Principal Nyre said.

"Burton, stay behind. I want to have a word with you." he said as we all moved along.

You can't trust anyone in this town anymore.
