Quiet Backstage: A Series of Lippa Oneshots

“Lin, promise me what you’re doing is safe.” Pippa asked her longtime friend, as she walked out of her rehearsals for Hamilton.

“Phillipa, I promise.” Lin replied with a chuckle.

“Okay.” Pippa smiled to herself and continued the short two block walk back to her apartment.

“Trust me, Pip.”

“I do. And hey, I'll see you soon, you're still coming over for dinner, right?” She asked.

“Wouldn't miss it for the world.” With that, and a couple goodbyes, the call was disconnected.

That was three weeks ago, and in those three weeks, Lin had dropped ten pounds. Still, he wasn't satisfied. “Well, hello.” Lin turned around as Pippa came into his dressing room.

“Hi, are you doing alright?” Pippa asked.

“Of course I am. It's a double show day, why wouldn't I be alright?!” Lin beamed, he really did love performing.

“I just wanted to make sure you were okay, now that you've truly gotten into this whole diet thing.”

Lin chuckled and grabbed Pippa’s right hand. “Pip, I'm alright, I promise. What I am doing is completely safe.”

“Alright.” Pippa smiled and Lin kissed the back of her hand.

“Let’s head out now, curtain’s up soon." Lin smiled and they both walked to the wings.

Post show, Lin noticed Pippa acting a little off, but he shook the thought away and continued on. He opened his dressing room door to see a package.

Alongside the words was a hand drawn heart, one that was imperfectly perfect. Lin cracked open the box to see another note and a whole bunch of candy and a DVD copy of The Little Mermaid.

Groff let it slide that we're moving to Broadway. Can't believe you told Groff before me. Just kidding. But hey, I think moving to Broadway warrants a cheat day. Love, Pippa. x
